What to do for 50 + year olds

Search this forum and you will find many discussions of Barbados tours. When I was there in April I enjoyed visiting the wildlife reserve (it was entertaining to watch the "green monkeys") and thought the scenery at "North Point" was spectacular. A lot of people visit the cave, but we have caves near us that are so much better so I opted to spend the day outdoors touring this beautiful island.

First time visit to the island? (or any island for that matter?) - Take an island tour and see everything.

You'll stop at scenic interesting places and get a general feel for the place.

When you come back a second time,

then you can get specialised about what to do, but for now....island tour. ;)

I'm going with my Mom (who is 60+) and we thinking of doing the Atlantis submarine tour in Barbados. We took the Atlantis sub tour on a prior cruise in Cozumel and had a wonderful time. My Mom can't swim, so it is a wonderful way for her to see the beautiful underwater world.

I hope you have a wonderful trip! :)

If you are beach folks, Brandon beach is just about a $5.00, cab drive from the pier; and, it is a nice beach. Interestingly, not many folks on these boards are aware of same.

I think people are aware of it and I have even suggested it a few times for persons looking for a beach close by(its actually within walking distance of the port). Its just that there is nothing in the way of amenities so alot of folks off the cruise ship don't like to go because of that.

You are right though it is a very nice beach...quite popular with the locals.

To the OP I will echo Aplmac's sentiments do an island tour and the next time you come back you can take a more specialised in depth tour.:)

First time in Barbados and wondering what to do......50's but young at heart..love beaches and touring but no idea what is there to be a "must" see. Would appreciate advice.

We've been to Barbados at least a half dozen times and I would also suggest a tour around the island for first timers. The scenery on Barbados is spectacular. Some of our favorites are: The Highlands, which offer beautiful vistas of rolling hillsides and ocean views. It's also a nice spot to stroll about for a bit and enjoy the breeze off the ocean. Bathsheba is magnificent with its rough surf and huge boulders. There is a wonderful spot nearby for lunch, if you want to stop for a bite. You can try the local flying fish. Yum! Barbados has no end of beautiful beaches if you also want to spend some time on the beach. As suggested, seach back thru the posts and you'll find some excellent suggestions for an itinerary. Your only problem will be having enough time in port to do all that you want to do. ;)
