Questions on Westerdam

We will be sailing on the Westerdam on 3/20 and had a few questions if anyone can help. We are traveling with a family with children and wondered if soft serve ice cream was available? Are the pools saltwater or fresh? Soda cards $ 27.50? Any help would be great Thanks.

I believe the $27.50 soda card is for adults, the children's may be a little cheaper. When we sailed the Veendam a few years ago, we got the kids a soda card, I believe it was $19.50, something like that. We found it was well worth the money.

 

The pools are fresh water.

Soft serve ice cream & yogurt usually comes in chocolate and vanilla.

Hard ice cream & sherberts - all kinds of flavors.

Is there a place to call and find out about soda cards? If there is a children's price, what age is a child? Is it just fountain sodas? Does it include HMC?

Call ship's services at 800-541-1576. For awhile they were not selling the soda cards ahead of time. That may have changed. We bought ours on-board from a beverage steward in the lido at lunch after embarcation. It worked for sodas from any of the bars or in the dinning areas. In most cases it was fountain but occasionally a can. They would fill our LARGE hal drink bottles we purchased in the shops. It DID NOT apply at HMC, but they had plenty of iced tea available at the lunch BBQ.

 

Someone from HAL at the above number should be able to answer your questions.

Does anyone know if the cabanas on HMC are a good investment? We have tentatively booked the Taupe one. Any feedback would be appreciated.

 

Also -- has anyone stayed in a Superior Verandah Suite -- not to be confused with a Deluxe Verandah suite, which is nicer. When we booked we were told we got all the suite perks, now i learn we don't . . . Frustrating!

Who told you that an SS got all the amenities of an S? Your TA?

 

Having stayed in an SS, I can tell you that you do NOT get the same amenities as an S. Sorry! We loved the SS we had.
