denied 4th person reservation

I have a family balcony room (D1 13042) booked for 11/20/10 cruise. Had 3 people reserved. When my TA tried to add a 4th person later, she was denied. Something about the maximum number of people for the floor already reached. I had to book a studio room for the 4th person. Not a happy camper:mad:

Sorry to hear that but for safety reasons they must keep a maximum number of passengers on a deck. Cruise ships pack everyone on like sardines so you know it has to be packed for them to tell you no.

Another reason could be the rooms are selling so fast that they dont have to compromise. It worked with you and you had to book another room.

Dont let it make you angry or bitter or it will ruin your cruise. Get it out of your mind before you board.

Did your travel agent ask about switching to a different cabin (assuming you would want to)?

The safety requirements affecting you have to do with the number of seats on the lifeboats. For every muster station, there may still be beds available in the cabins, but if the life boats are full, that's what counts. I can understand your disappointment, but finding a lack of availability is just one of the risks of waiting to book. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter why you waited - whether there was some obstacle beyond your control or you were just procrastinating, the results are the same - other passengers have booked in the meantime and the availability you were hoping for may be gone.

I agree with David; don't let it dampen your cruise spirit! Just think, now four of you won't have to share one shower! :)

Try making a booking elseswhere on the ship to see what you can find. Then call and as for that new cabin.

And, watch the bookings as you approach the final payment date. People cancel out before it is due, and groups turn cabins back in. Something might open up.

I bet you will be able to make this work!

As mentioned above, it is about lifeboat space. The good news is that there was enough lifeboat space for all of you to cruise. It'll still be fun and with the extra studio, you'll have more storage space for everybody's stuff and a key to the studio lounge.

When we booked in July '09 I could only book for two people at a time so we booked two connecting balconies on deck 13 as well.

As others have said maybe you can change the rooms. I don't know the makeup of your party or whether putting the third person in with the fourth is feasible but perhaps that is an option. Hope it works out!

We're hoping, like you said, that after final payments are due that something opens up. We tried different ways and the Studio was the least expensive option. It's all good, except I could do without the added expense.
