I recently saw a commerical for the Powermat (I believe Engerizer has the Grid), but I thought it might be a solution for the families who cruise and have several devices that needed charged. Perhaps a solution to the powerstrip???

We got those for our last cruise. They worked great and I loved not fussing with containers of detergent / Bounce. They weigh nothing and made it easy. We all wore 'dark' colored clothes for the trip from Montreal-Fll and washed these mid week (family of 5) so we could wear the same travel clothes back home. Highly recommended...

Yes, this is a good tip...I have a green on ready!

 

Heck just having a pen and paper is needed on some trips and not always easily found in your room.

The sample is actually a 2-pack, and believe it or not, a half sheet is good enough for one load. That means a 2-pack will do up to 4 loads of laundry.

I pack light weight clothes pieces that all match the same color scheme. I can pack lightly and. still have many different outfits

Bring your 'usual' over the counter meds (small sizes) - these are hard to find and/or expensive on board (e.g. sunscreen, gravol, immodium, painkillers, lozenges, polysporin, bandaids, etc).

 

A travel with a small package of plastic clips (kinda like clothespins?) - to hold the shower curtain down (prevents the dreaded 'attack' of the shower curtain and flooding, also good for holding towel onto lounger so it doesn't blow off).

 

Also post it notes, pen and cheap paperbacks from 2nd hand shops which I can leave onboard when I'm done!

Downey Wrinkle Release.

 

We have some things, don't know what they're called, that go around the top of a pool lounge chair and hold your towel in place. You can get them online or in surf shops. They're very handy on cruises when you are at the pool on sea days and the breeze keeps blowing your towel off/away. They're like overgrown stretchy headbands.

Don't forget to bring your own Aloe Vera sun burn relief...it's way expensive on the ship. (the last time I needed it on RCCL it was $15 for an 8 ounce bottle)

I take ADDRESS LABELS to fill out before we reach an important destination, such as 'Hell' in Grand Cayman, CI. With timing being a big issue, having the labels addressed and ready to stick on postcards makes life a whole lot easier.

One other thing I do (now that I have been reading those 'lost luggage' heartbreak stories)..is print an itinerary of where I will be each day including my name, cell phone #, companion's cell phone #, carnival hotline number, name of ship, ports to be visited, hotels I'm staying in, - with corresponding dates, etc. Should my luggage go astray and someone opens it - right on top they will find this page indicating where to send the luggage (ya wishful thinking but it can't hurt?) :D

Bungee cords to hold your towels and drying bathing suits on the balcony deck chairs.

Use plastic contact lens cases to hold small quantities of first aid cream or cortisone cream (you just never know when you might need it). Buttons with four holes are great for holding 2 pairs of earrings - just push the stud or wire through a hole and fasten.

I bring lots of cash. If you forget anything or need anything it will take care of that situation. We do try to bring lots of things to make life simpler on a cruise but don't over worry you can buy things you need or forget once your on your cruise. It may cost more but in the end you will have what you need and have a great cruise. Don't worry cruise happy and all will be fine.

I absolutely agree with those that said a highlighter. They come in very handy when deciding and keeping track of what activities you would like to participate in.

 

I also agree with the Downey Wrinkle Release Spray. I love that stuff!!! For some reason I can only find it in the travel size toiletrie section of Target.

 

I also suggest a battery operated travel alarm clock. If you are staying in an Inside Cabin, you never see the light of day. The clock helps you to get up and going... or just know the time. Cell phones aren't always dependable when it comes to the time.

No has mentioned the over-the-door-shoe-holder yet.............I have a small one of these (6 pockets) and it is great for holding hairbrush, lanyards, sunscreen, cell phone, highlighters, loose change, all that stuff you always having laying around in your cabin. Be sure and get one with clear pockets.

 

Be sure and take a small, light backpack for shore excursions.

We use our cell phones they are more accurate than battery powered alarm clocks to wake us up. But as this poster said if you like a 2 inch clock in your room then it would be handy to "just know the time".

I love your button idea.

 

I wanted to add a contact lens case can also make a great small pill travel contained for an excursion. It will depend on the size of the tablet but it keeps them nice and dry in humid environments

always bring a little notebook (pocket size) so we can leave notes to each other when we leave the room, notes to our room steward, etc....first page is always the location of my parking space in the airport garage!

also the highlighter...great for marking things we want to do on the daily schedule.

always bring an extra (folded) tote bag or two (for the things that just don't fit in the suitcase on the way home!

i don't get the wrinkle releaser stuff...i must be using it wrong because I never was able to make it work!

oh, throw in a handful of thank you cards to write a short note (we add extra tip with the card) to room steward and others we want to say a special thanks to!

Post it notes! Can't live without them. Especially when we travel with the 2 older kids (20 and 17). They leave a note on the mirror in their cabin where they are, we leave a note on ours where we will be. We both have keys to each other's cabins. They are also good for bookmarks for that novel I'm always reading in a lounger!
