Karen Lynn Posted June 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2010 The Hotel website mentions a shuttle then water taxi? Anyone done this? Is it pretty easy? Thanks!
PSCruiser Posted June 9, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2010 Yes, very easy. Venice airport is not all that big. Go out the front doors, you will find several stops for coaches, one in front of the other. There are ticket purchase machines right there, a driver will help you buy and validate, if needed, I believe the tickets were 3E. Board the #5 bus, which is the one that goes to Piazza Roma in Venice. At Piazza Roma, it is possible that you might be able to walk to your hotel. If you are relatively close to St. Mark's, you will want to take a water taxi (water bus). Locate the ticket booth, they might have been 6E. The water taxi will give you a long ride around Venice island and end up with 2 stops near St. Mark's.

euro cruiser Posted June 9, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2010 If you want to take a land bus, there are two options. One is direct to Piazzale Roma and has a luggage hold underneath, the other is a local bus that makes several stops and has no place for luggage. The direct bus is run by ATVO and costs 3 Euro one way. Information, prices, schedules, etc. here: http://www.atvo.it/index.php?lang=en&area=23&menuid=35 The local bus is run by ACTV, the same company that runs the vaporettos (water buses). Information, maps, prices, etc. here: http://www.actv.it/en Water taxis are something else entirely and are quite a bit more expensive. If you are going to do this, you should take one right from the airport. They run around 90 - 100 Euro, but shared rides can be arranged. This site has great step-by-step directions for water taxis, complete with pictures: http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/arriving_in_venice.htm Lots of information on the official Venice visitor's site: http://www.veniceconnected.com/
Karen Lynn Posted June 9, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted June 9, 2010 Wondering, will the water taxi drop right at the hotel? I see the Hotel has a back door for them to drop off and pick up..
euro cruiser Posted June 10, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2010 Yes, a water taxi will do that. It's a great way to arrive in Venice, especially if it's your first time there.
