Purchasing in caribbean

What are accepted forms of payment at most places in St. Thomas/St. Martaan? Cash of course, but what about credit card?

After 20+ trips to different Caribbean islands I have yet to have my dollars or credit card turned down. Mastercard, Visa, and American Express are the cards of choice. We don't have Diner's Club, and we rarely use our Discover in the islands, although merchants may take it too. Have a great trip.

Correct, as posted above, that you can use nearly any credit card, but some places may add a 3%-4% surcharge to cover their costs for the service.

 

We often use our ATM card in the Caribbean and in Mexico for US $ withdrawals for a fee of $.75 per transaction (by our local credit union) when we need the cash.
