Rare Radio Posted June 19, 2010 Author #205 Share Posted June 19, 2010 Hello everyone. . . Good morning from NYC. We arrived this morning very early. . . It was about 6AM as we passed under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. We past by the Statue of Liberty at 615AM, and arrived at Pier 90 by 630AM. The first Self Assist passenger started debarkation at 730AM. I am driving so I am in no hurry to get off Carnival Glory. I may walk around and see if I can get a few more pics ! My plan is to leave the ship at about 10AM. We are joined today by Norwegian Jewel, who will be docked at Pier 88. She is pulling in now as I compose this post. It should be about a 3½ ride for me down the NJ Turnpike, and I should arrive home around 2PM. I have a lot of things to scan and post, and it will take be a few days to finish. It will be back to work for me early Monday morning. . . I would like to thank everyone who posted nice comments, and I cant’t finish a post with remembering to say. . . . Thanks for tuning in ! Radio We slowly approach the Verrazano Narrows Bridge at about 6AM The water is very calm, and it appears that we will have a sunny day here in NYC We are greeted by the Statue of Liberty as we make our way to Manhattan The morning sun rises up above the Brooklyn Bridge A tugboat dropped off the pilot for us, and then assisted us with docking We ease up to Pier 90 for docking. . . . cruzship21 Posted June 19, 2010 #214 Share Posted June 19, 2010 Radio - I can't believe you are on the 9/11 to Bermuda on the Explorer. We are booked on that as well. For the last 5 years we have taken the Explorer to Bermuda in early September except for last year when we went in October (never again). I love early Sept to Bermuda. It's always hot and sunny. This will be our 6 time doing it. So right now I have the Glory booked for Canada on 7/17/10, NCL Epic on 10/9/10 and the Explorer on 9/11/10 to Bermuda. Did you get any cabin pictures?? Now I'm looking forward to the Canada cruise. Did you know the day after you left Halifax it was 85 and sunny there? Dave

Rare Radio Posted June 19, 2010 Author #223 Share Posted June 19, 2010 Radio - What is an ocean suite? Is that the owner's suite? Dave An Ocean Suite used to be called a CAT 11 Suite before they recategorized all of the cabins on all ships. A Standard Balcony is 185 Sq Ft (35 Sq Ft Balcony) Junior Suite is 275 Sq Ft (35 Sq Ft Balcony) Ocean Suite is 275 Sq Ft (65 Sq Ft Balcony) Grand Suite is 345 Sq Ft (85 Sq Ft Balcony) Radio ;);) . Rare Radio Posted June 20, 2010 Author #224 Share Posted June 20, 2010 Hello everyone. . . I made it home safely and I was ready for a little nap when I pulled in the driveway. I often try to hang around on the ship as long as possible. . . to try to get a few photos of different cabins. There is usually enough time to get a few pics while passengers are in debarkation mode. Some of the cabins have already been made up. I always ask the Cabin Attendant before I walk in. (I will post the pics tomorrow when I get them on my photo album) By around 10:15 they have announced all of the Zones, and the final boarding call was made. I walked down to Deck 3, and entered my Sail and Sign card for the last time. I asked the CCL Security Officer on Deck 3 how many passengers were left, and I was surprised that after me there were 48 passengers still on board. I walked in to the Terminal at 10:25 AM. I had all of my luggage with me, so I just walked up to the Customs Agent who cleared my Passport, and was in my car at 10:30. . . Wow !, that is the quickest I have ever made it through Customs. I am sure that will never happen again. . . The ride to the Linclon Tunnel wasn't so easy. . . It seemed like it took forever just to go a couple of miles. But once I was in the tunnel, things went pretty smooth for the rest of the ride home. Thanks for coming along with me, and I can tell you that I enjoy posting "LIVE" on every cruise. It really doesn't take much time, and I love to cruise and I love to do "LIVE" Posts. . . My wireless connection was acting up a little for me on this sailing, but the Internet Manager "threw a dog a bone" We can keep this thread alive for as long as we need to answer any questions, or just chat about cruising. . . Here are a few pics from Debarkation. . . Thanks for tuning in ! Radio It appeared that the Norwegian Jewel was about to clip Pier 90. . . (She didn't hit the Pier) She pulled into port at about 9AM. It was now 10:15 AM, and Glory has made the final call for Debarkation I walk off of the ship at 10:25AM. . . And I make it to my car at 10:30AM ! My last glimpse of Carnival Glory before I head home ! I am now in the mad house of Manhattan on a Saturday. . . It will only take me 30 minutes to make a 5 min. ride to the Lincoln Tunnel . It was a nice escape reading your posts. Thanks for taking the time to post!
