dodger501 Posted July 23, 2012 #1704 Share Posted July 23, 2012 Normally I don't liked to attend little kids' birthday parties but there is something special about a child's first one. This is my niece's little girl this past weekend:

Debathome Posted July 23, 2012 #1707 Share Posted July 23, 2012 Dodger, she is adorable!! :) I actually did get out and use my camera today. Hot as Hades here today so we went to the Bluffs and to one of my favorite areas along the water called The Guild Park where an old Inn used to stand and the eccentric owner collected and strew about his garden old artefacts. It is such a quiet and peaceful.... and cool... place to visit.
Rare pierces Posted July 23, 2012 Author #1708 Share Posted July 23, 2012 Wow, Dave. Where was this? The car "art" is the Cadillac Ranch just outside of Amarillo. It was an art project that has survived as a drive-by curiosity for several years now. Graffiti is not just tolerated, but encouraged! The big hole is the Arizona Meteor Crater which is a bit west of Winslow, AZ. It was made by a city-killer meteorite that impacted the desert at 25,000 mph with the energy of a 20 megaton a-bomb about 50,000 years ago. The crater is 550 ft deep and a bit under 4000 ft in diameter. Been wanting to see it in person since I read about it when I was about 6 years old. Multi-Cruiser Posted July 24, 2012 #1712 Share Posted July 24, 2012 Long drive home...with a few stops. Dave Great shots Dave. It's hard to imagine a meteor that large hitting our planet and how scientists can even guesstimate how long ago it happened. It sure is a good thing it was 50,000 years ago!
