piginmud Posted February 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2005 I've heard a few bad things about Carnivals reputation. I've been reading the boards here for a little bit and I am not reading anything really "bad" about this cruise line. So... I will pose a question to those of you who have been on a Carnival cruise and have enjoyed yourself.... If I MADE you say something bad (or something you didn't like) about the cruise ship or cruise line, what would you say was your top 3 least favorite things? If you don't want to post to the boards, you can email me at piginmud@yahoo.com. Thanks! debbie
GoinCruisin Posted February 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2005 The decks around the pool can get slick when they are very wet.... and... They make me get off the ship at the end of the cruise :D
neverenufcruising Posted February 6, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2005 1. You're not allowed to bring a crock pot 2. You're not allowed to bring a grill 3. You have to pay extra for the alcohol
stlrboo Posted February 6, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2005 They don't charge enough for their cruises, so it's not fair to the other cruise lines.. :D Makes me *mad* they aren't 'playing' fair..
Laurab23 Posted February 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2005 Some of the kids are very unruly. I eat too much and gain weight. They don't stay in some ports long enough. Laura
can'twaittacruise Posted February 6, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 6, 2005 When I think before I speak I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Carnival. Postive thinking is necessary about everything in life. Lynn
hstrybuf Posted February 6, 2005 #7 Share Posted February 6, 2005 The decor might be a little hard on some people's eyes. They make me get off. My DH goes to bed too early on most cruises. ;)
ConquestMike Posted February 6, 2005 #8 Share Posted February 6, 2005 Not enough time is some ports, too much time in others LOL Not enough time at sea either come to think of it hmmm One thing I do wonder, and this is not unique to Carnival, is why does each ship seem to go to at least one port for a 7 day cruise that is less desirable? I was on Conquest a few weeks back and though we made the best of Jamaica I dont see why they go there when there are many other more desirable places, especially on the Western caribean cruise Jamaica was out of the way, why not Cayman, Cozumel and instead of jamaica use Cancun which is right there too...Ive read so many reviews especially before going and it seems Jamaica runs about 80 to 90 per cent negative. That was just the cruise we were on but while looking through others and planning the next cruise it seems each has one of the less desirable ports, never seem to get an answer to this question, my guess is it is financial but really dont know.. pholter Posted February 6, 2005 #13 Share Posted February 6, 2005 1) They don't force me to work out after I've had a full breakfast and lunch, Roast Beef and Brie in the room before dinner, a full dinner with maybe multiple entrees, several adult beverages, 2 pieces of pizza at 1am and start all over again the next day. 2) Bigger ships from Galveston going to much cooler ports than now. I haven't been able to take a Carnival cruise from home cuz of the ships they've sent here and I'm not interested in the ports. How about going further South on a Destiny Class ship from Houston/Galveston?? 3) Parents and Camp Carnival counselors keeping a better eye on the darling angels when they are into mischief effecting other passengers. 4) The cabins, balconies, and showers/tubs are waaaaayyyy too big! Other cruiselines really satisfy their customers by having them trip over one another in the rooms and bump your heads in the showers repeatedly while trying to shave your legs :) Shame on you Carnival ;) 5) I'd like to see an all inclusive cruise like alot of land based vacations offer so I don't have to worry about my sign and sail billing at the end. sea_u_onboard Posted February 6, 2005 #14 Share Posted February 6, 2005 They could work on their communication skills. It seems that you can call three different people and get three differet answers - NOW - in some chances this can be a positive - especially if you are working on a shipboard credit or an upgrade - call enough times and you might get lucky. It's a negative when there are problems such as changes of ports of call, changes due to hurricanes, sunken ships, powerlines too low, etc... You get my point. They just can't seem to all be on the same page. Mis-information coming from every direction.
SouthernCaribbean Posted February 6, 2005 #15 Share Posted February 6, 2005 1. I wish Carnival would offer longer cruises 2. Wish carnival had more repositioning cruises..would love to see a spirit class ship in San Juan doing 10-12 day cruises. 3. lucyjohnz Posted February 6, 2005 #16 Share Posted February 6, 2005 1. Most of our Carnival cruises seemed very crowded. 2. The neon decor on the older ships can be quite hideous and jarring. 3. PLEASE - why is the only color choice in the staterooms ORANGE? Ugh! Even on new ships. 4. Sometimes service is not as good as it could be. 5. Food in the buffets can be pretty tasteless (unfortunately this is true on most mass-market lines). Good points: 1. Great prices 2. Local starting ports 3. Big choice in MANY ships 4. Good dining room food 5. Big casinos
Cotton Posted February 6, 2005 #17 Share Posted February 6, 2005 Debbie - I can assure you that since you're on the Carnival board, you won't get a lot of the negative answers you're hoping for. Offhand, I can't think of anything that bothers me enough to talk about it. There's always little things on ANY cruiseline, but nothing worth discussing...and I've been Carnival, Princess, and NCL. Certainly no major complaints about any of them
ConquestMike Posted February 6, 2005 #18 Share Posted February 6, 2005 Yeah Mike! I want to enjoy the ship, he wants to sleep! He's an early riser and I'm a night owl. ;)and you see this as a negative?? interesting concept LOL
ConquestMike Posted February 6, 2005 #19 Share Posted February 6, 2005 I have to agree with Cotton, if you go with reasonable expectations those expectations will be met and maybe even surpassed.. Negatives, not too much to complain about, there are always some nuisances when traveling but with good planning you can minimize these, I think it be nice to get away from all the money making schemes Carnival has but even that has to be expected,,,They do a good job,,,

judyf Posted February 6, 2005 #22 Share Posted February 6, 2005 I had tho think hard to find a "bad" thing about my CCL cruises. It's not a "bad" thing but something I think could improve so I will post it. I wish CCL offered a full breakfast with room service. This was one plus on my RCCL cruise. Running_Dad Posted February 6, 2005 #25 Share Posted February 6, 2005 This is really nitpicking but I think the coffee is pretty bad  ......especially on the Lido deck. It is marginally better in the dining room. Overall though I can't complain about any of my five cruises:D . Pat
