hobo1937 Posted July 7, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2010 We have never sailed on HAL but are looking at booking a cruise on the Amsterdam cabin class DA on main deck. Our one concern is lots of noise from people walking/jogging above us. Since this will be one of the longer cruises it's a bit more important than a shorter one. Any comments would be appreciated. Mary Ellen Posted July 7, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2010 There are BIG signs on the Lower Promenade that say "No Jogging". As to IF your fellow passengers obey them... ????? That is why when booking an outside cabin, we like the 'E's on the lowest deck (Dolphin on the Amsterdam) and have our reservation marked as 'no upgrade'. Assateague Island Princes Posted July 7, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2010 Consider 7056 (or 7055) on the aft of the Navigation Deck. Both DD cabins w/large windows overlooking a "private" aft deck little used by others. It was just 4 steps from our cabin out to this deck - and it was so convenient and private for wonderful Alaskan viewing! We loved it and intend to book it again when we head back to the Great Land. Its under the aft Lido deck pool - so just a short flight of steps up to the Lido, the Sea View Bar, and an open deck. Little noise or traffic back there - but of course, this was an Alaskan cruise, perhaps it would be noisier on a warm weather cruise. We loved 7056 and would book it again in a heartbeat! rkacruiser Posted July 8, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2010 I once had a DA cabin on Main Deck aboard the Amsterdam. One could hear people walking on the deck above if they were heavy-footed. Also, sometimes in the early morning, the crew washing the deck could be heard. I prefer EE or E cabins on Dolphin Deck.
