Davideb Posted July 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2010 Hi, I'm going to Alaska soon on the Star, and I noticed that a few reviewers complained that Norwegian has taken away much of the public space for restaurants, etc., and that there are few if any good indoor places left to view the Alaskan scenery. However, I didn't see that any of the reviews stated which good places, if any, are left. Suggestions? Thanks!
bakerintn Posted July 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2010 There should be lots of room on deck, outside, much of it under cover. That in my opinion is the way to see nature -- out doors. If you are sitting inside, looking through a window, you might as well be seeing it on tv, in my opinion. We saw all our Alaska cruise sights while sitting out doors, and lived to talk about it!! or...you could hog a buffet area window table all day
Budget Queen Posted July 9, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2010 You have to be indoors??? The Star has superb upper front deck viewing, just excellent. As only a suggestion, "necessary" in my opinion, is the add on Tracy Arm boat tour- WAY WAY superior to anything seen from your cruiseship. Especially if you want varied wildlife- the cruiseship misses it completely and close up glacier viewing- no comparism to the cruise ship. This is one tour, that's always a "must do" for me.
