I love, love, love Roatan. Sad to hear some haven't had good experiences. My friend and I did a tour with Tex from Victor Bodden's Tours. This is an incredibly beautiful island. There were some places Tex took us to that I was just spellbound by the beauty. I would go there again in a heartbeat!

We look forward to returning to Roatan this October for the 3rd time. Love touring with Cinthia tours at the roatancabco.com They are awesome and good people. We highly recommend them. They are always waiting when we get off the ship and stay with us all day for whatever we need. Can't ask for more.

Is this actually the website for the excursion you mentioned?

Hi - We're booked on Norwegian Epic Sept. 18-25, 2010. Day 4, we stop at the Port of Roatan, and I'm seriously considering taking an official NCL excursion - Tabyana Beach, West Bay & Dolphin encounter. I limp with a cane.

Question: How far is any NCL ship from the ship to NCL excursions.

Thank You!!

Scott & Hope

Hi Scotty: If your ship docks (not anchors) you will exit the gangway and have a short walk to where the line-ups occur for NCL excursions. There will be NCL staff directing pax to the appropriate lines for their tours. Very doable for you (scooter and all!).

Hi Holly: Here's the link for the Roatan BOB excursion - www.roatanbob.com.

It was absolutely fantastic......

The website http://www.roatanbob.com/ is currently under construction and there is no information on the site. Do you have any other information? I really would love to do this.

Thanks for your help.

We were with a Large Cruise Critic Group. Many chose tours with Victor Bodden..Not a single complaint and I think there were 4 -5 different group tours.

My husband and I Booked with Island Marketing a Private Island Retreat.

Fantasy Island. We had the islands basically to ourselves, The water was beautiful, fresh water pool, lots of chairs and beach loungers with Cabana's over them. Kayaks and such.. was 38 pp. We enjoyed it very much. About a 15 minute ride included and she talked about the island all the way. She stayed at the resort the entire time till we were ready to leave.

Good to read this review. I've booked this same excursion for our cruise in February. Thanks!!

Thank you, I appreciate the information however, this is for a tour of the island with no mention of horseback riding, jet skis or the BOB (Breathing Observation Bubble).

I was not responding to your inquiries. I was actually posing a question to Eileen in the message I quoted above.

Watchdiva...thank you, thank you!!!!! I won't be using to scooter..I'll be limping, using a cane. My left leg has an AGO, so it doesn't drag.

Do you know about how long it is, from the gangway to the NCL staff??

Your answers mean a lot.

Scott

i'm reading mixed reviews on the port of call boards so i thought i'd ask here. What are your thoughts about this spot? Is it worth getting off the ship? Seems like the experiences people have had aren't spectacular. Thanks!

This is one of my favorite islands!! We were lucky enough to discover this island several years ago when it was completely undeveloped> the coral reef right off the beach is truly amazing. It pokes right out of the water with an abundance of sea life. Some day, i'm afraid, as it becomes more & more commercial, you will just see the remains of dead coral like in Cozumel and Grand Caymen you'll have to catch a boat to visit the living reef! It will be an unforgettable opportunity to just grab a mask and fins and walk right into the giant fish bowl of Roatan don't miss it! And also, don't touch it!!!!

Or.... Try ziplining through Island Marketing, or go to Fins & Flippers (I only remember the old name of this beach- it has a beautiful pool and a small zoo) or West Bay Beach; face the water & walk to the far left and snorkel all day free of charge!!

If you're a SCUBA diver, Roatan is one of the "must dive" spots in the Western Hemisphere, IMO. Simply fantastic. I'd go back, absolutely.

Any particular dive shop you recommend? My husband is a diver and has dove the Great Garrier Reef, Hawaii, France, etc. I want to find him a good dive shop in Roatan. Thanks!
