5150lock Posted July 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2010 We will be going to SF by Amtrak and our stop is Fishermans Warf at pier 39. Our ship will be leaving at pier 27 and was wondering how far that is? It looks close on a map but for old folks dragging luggage close has just gotta be pretty close. :D Thanks for any help, we have left from Pier 39 so have a good idea where that is but never from 27. Hmmmm, maybe we can find a shopping cart. ;) So looking forward to a San Francisco round trip.
Rare Keith1010 Posted July 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2010 It's about a ten minute walk. There is a nice sidewalk. Keith

sultan_sfo Posted July 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2010 Remember the Amtrak to Pier 39 is a bus. Increase the time with a roller luggage to 15 minutes because the sidewalk may be crowded.
Oceans&Rivers Posted July 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2010 Here is an aerial view of Pier 27: The following map shows all the piers numbered: From the above you can see the distance between Pier 27 and Pier 39. I hope you enjoy your time in beautiful San Francisco. :)

Rare Keith1010 Posted July 14, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 14, 2010 It is a short and simple walk. Even I can do this without getting lost. Keith

You could walk the entire Embarcadero (and beyond) and call it a simple walk. ;):D:)

Keith OMG, Keith, I just noticed you have been a member of Cruise Critic for ten years this month: Wow. This is for you! Thanks for all the good advice over the years. P.S. Don't worry. Rare Keith1010 Posted July 14, 2010 #12 Share Posted July 14, 2010 Thanks, O&R you are very kind. I hope that Anne Marie and I have the opportunity to sail with you and your husband on a future voyage. The dessert is my kind of dessert as it is virtual. :p Keith

Thank you for the nice words. My husband Ted and I would be very pleased to cruise with you two, too. He is, by the way, just as fit as you (he has a genetic advantage, plus he takes public transportation and walks regularly, though never for exercise). I, on the other hand....need to plan a renovation similar to what Crystal does with their ships to get back into shape.
BEAV Posted August 25, 2010 #14 Share Posted August 25, 2010 As info, Pier 27 is midway between the regular Amtrak station (full staffing and facilities) at 101 The Embarcadero and the bus stop (no facilities) at Pier 39. The Amtrak bus from the East Bay will first stop at the Amtrak station before continuing to the Pier 39 stop. It would actually make sense to leave the bus there rather than riding past Pier 27 on the way to the Pier 39 bus stop.
olwagner Posted August 25, 2010 #15 Share Posted August 25, 2010 I believe that the cruise terminal is actually on Pier 35 http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=37.806978,-122.406331&spn=0,0.009516&z=17&layer=c&cbll=37.806936,-122.406242&panoid=bSgFDFSv0Cq5LNYs92p-pw&cbp=12,75.94162899999998,,0,0 http://www.walktomycruiseship.com/sanfrancisco.htm Either way, that should be a short walk

I assume by the OP's post they are leaving from Pier 27.
Dayenu Posted September 8, 2010 #17 Share Posted September 8, 2010 I think the Amtrak stop at 39 is closer to pier 27 than their main station. The stop is south of the pier 39 that makes it even closer. The bus stops SFC is close to the main station, not at the doors.
