Kugel Posted July 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2010 Can anyone tell me the dress code for London theater. Here people even wear jeans, even on Broadway. Thanks, leaving in a few hours.
newport dave Posted July 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2010 Smart jeans and a shirt - short or long sleeve doesn't matter for the men. Skirt, blouse, dress or the above even for the ladies.
alabama ghost Posted July 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2010 We went to Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palace in June and saw everything. Don't worry about it!
motorsport1 Posted July 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2010 Like many places now some people don't bother what they wear to whatever occassion, but for the majority of people going to the theatre is still a little special so they do try to make an effort smart casual is best. smart jeans and a nice shirt for the men but you don't seem to see many ladies in jeans but whatever makes you feel comfortable no one will say anything it's your evening too enjoy
Kugel Posted July 15, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted July 15, 2010 Thank you all so much. Just concerned it it rains we could wear jeans and a sweater, have both just in case. Thanks
Sauer-kraut Posted July 15, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 15, 2010 You'll be fine in jeans even if it isn't raining :D
MATHA531 Posted July 15, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2010 I always wear my official tourist garb...a clean t shirt, blue jeans (no holes), white sneakers and a baseball cap (worn frontwards)...I dress the same way when I go to Broadway. You know something; I haven't been thrown out or talked to yet.
financialgrl Posted July 17, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 17, 2010 A month ago my niece and I were at the Apollo Victoria and saw Wicked - evening show. Crowd was very young - most people dressed very casual (jeans, shorts, and blouse or even tees). Actually even saw some kids with flip flops. We each wore black slacks and I had on a cotton sweater and she had a white blouse and we each wore sandals (very simple outfit) and that seemed overdressed.
