Chops questions, please

Can anyone give me some information about a couple of menu items in Chops, please? What exactly is lobster carpaccio? I thought "carpaccio" meant raw or very nearly so. How is the shrimp main dish? Aslo, has anyone recently tired the crab and shrimp cake appetizer? I had it a couple of years ago, and found it tastless.

I can only answer about the lobster carpaccio, I ordered it last week on Freedom. It wasn't to my taste at all....very fishy, couldn't tell if it was raw as it was so thinly sliced. The waiter noticed I wasn't eating it and asked me if I wanted to exchange it for something else. Knowing how much food I had coming I declined!!!!

I believe that's when a fish product has been "cooked" by using citric acid (lemon juice)...and letting it sit in that until it's "done"...they served shrimp that way in the dining room....didn't care for it.

My son had that appetizer last week on the Liberty and said that it was very good.

Yes, carpaccio is usually raw and sliced, or pounded, very thin. I have never had the lobster carpaccio at Chops, but have had a scallop carpaccio elsewhere in the world, and it was raw (and delicious). If you do not like sushi or other forms of uncooked seafood, another appetizer would probably make you happier. (I'm a big believer in the "there's something for everyone" school of eating - there are things I won't eat in this world, but I just love raw fish!)

Loved the crab and shirmp cake on the Jewel in April. Delish!!
