What is the most popular tour, activity, or thing to do in Barbados? What is the "must do, and not to miss" if anything? Thank you.

It tends to be a toss-up between Swimming with the Turtles

and doing Harrison's Cave.

 

The caves are in the central highlands

about 3-5 miles away from the West Coast beaches where you can swim with the turtles

via engaging a glass-bottom boat to take you out to where the turtles are

so it's possible to do both activities while ashore for a few hours.

I agree the Turtles are the most popular. The Boatyard is also very popular Its $10 includes transportation both ways and entry fee. There are 2 water trampolines, a rope swing, a rock climbing wall in the water, a water slide, a fun bar that always has a party going on, shower, chairs and umbrellas are all included in your $10 and they also have Jet Ski's, Banana Boats, parasaling, Kayaks, Snorkeling equipment and more for an extra charge. They also have a turtle cruise which will let you do both!!!:D

And don't forget that, if you want just BEACH

Accra/Rockley Beach is just 15 mins. away..

-not unless you're young, and a seeerious walker! :D

 

What gets you here on the island, is the heat and humidity. ;)

Walking six blocks in NYC is OK, but six blocks in the islands on a warm day is work.

 

Suggest you catch a taxi -or get a group of you together..

to fill/half-fill a 10-seater mini-van --out to Accra

and maybe bus it back in to the city.

 

 

It is possible to walk Westward from Rockley/Accra -along the new boardwalk

until you get to Hastings Beach...continue Westward another mile or so along the beach

and you'll find yourself at Hilton

which is pretty much halfway back the the Port

(from Hilton's front entrance you can look across the entire span of Carlisle Bay)

and see your ship in the Port at the other end of this widest of bays here on the island.

 

Whether you want to walk the rest(to and through Bridgetown) is up to you

but so much depends on the temps. and weather that day you're ashore in Barbados.

Thank you! I think we'll just catch the local bus to Brighton Beach. I have a walking tour for Barbados, so we may we walked out anyway. I don't know what temps to expect - we'll be there mid-Oct.

Lunch at Cocomo's is the best!! Stop there after a morning tour before you head to the beach for a while. The atomosphere is wonderful-the restaurant is completely open air with lots of cool looking ceiling fans circulating the nice ocean breeze. It sits RIGHT ON the beach and the view is fantastic. The prices are affordable and the food is well portioned and delicious! It's not just burgers but BBQ chicken and wild rice, calamari and so much more! (I was there 4 yrs ago, so this may be changed but I still wanted to share my experience!) If I can find some pictures I will try to figure out how to post them.

Cocomo's is smack on Holetown Beach, at its Southern end

-right next to a small concrete walkway which can take you further South

connecting you(?) with Sandy Lane -or at least getting you partway there..

with Paynes Bay further South again, if you keep on trekkin.. :)

 

I'm not certain, but this may be a picture of Cocomo's interior ??
