Recommended Posts

Hey Cruising Grandma. . . great to hear from you!!

We are all well and getting ready for Celebrity Constellation Baltic cruise August 23rd.

We are meeting Daisy's (my aunt) son in Amsterdam for the cruise and will stay with him for a week after. David lives in Delft.

We on on Oasis Oct. 23rd.

We booked the Royal Family suite for the 5 of us -my parents, aunt and cousin and Rhonda & Troy booked a suite as Rhonda's dad will be on the cruise too.

Hope you are able to join us on this cruise . . it's been a while since we last cruised together!!

Have a super time on Carnival Dream and let us know how you enjoyed the cruise.

Please send a big hello to John for us.

Rita

Rita, John, my mom, and I did the baltic cruise on Constellation several years ago. Captain Thor Thorolvson's daughter and her husband met us in Sweden for the day! We had met them on Jewel of the Seas the year before! I do know quite a few people going on Oasis b2b Oct. 16 and Oct. 23. If John and I decide to go, it would be October 16, as I babysit our granddaughter during school times. Tell your parents and Daisy, Rhonda and Troy we send our hello!! We would love to cruise with you again..maybe some time!

Another Hello to Cruising Grandma hope you will be on the Oasis on the 16 or 23 would love to see you and John again.

Thanks dzboss1 for the updates everyday have enjoyed your reports everyday.

Gary

Hey, Gary!! How are you, Martha, your mom and sister doing???? John and I are still undecided about Oasis for October 16, but will definitely let you know if/when we decide! I have talked to Trish a couple of times. I hope Herb's hand is better.

Our captain is Thomas "Thor" Thorolysen.

Denise, Thanks! That is the captain I was asking about!! I knew he was scheduled to be on Oasis, along with another Captain Thor(Olsen, I think). I wish you could find out when his next time on will be or if he'll be on holiday in mid October. Maybe Fernando could find out.....also will Fernando still be in the concierge lounge mid October??

Thanks, again! Enjoy!!

I very rarely post (mostly a lurker), however, I just had to post that I love your sense of humor and your upbeat position on life (referencing you outlook on formal nights).

We are going on the 8/21 sailing...surely wish you were on our cruise so that we could hang with you for a while. Hmmm, maybe fellow 8/21 cruisers can get together and pay for you another cruise...if everyone on the cruise chipped in, the cost would be only a dollar or so for both you and hubby:D

There is an adopt Denise program in the works, we are all planning on going with Denise and her husband on their next cruise even if it is to Siberia heck Denise can make any country seem grand even if there were nothing there. I just love this woman, hope Mr Denise does not mind.

bz ~~~ what a sweet comment!! It is fiances that is preventing me from booking another...because I would have booked another one the day we sailed!! I want to be back on this ship ASAP!!!!

I have so say, many of you sound exactly like the people I would like to sail with too!! Hey, you never know.....

Maggie ~~~ ty

Played in the slots tourney...it was so much fun but I lost!

When I finished the sun was out!!!!! Yipeeeeeeeeee!!! I raced out there and plopped myself down. I had a mango tango and a frozen yogurt and finished my book and boogied in my seat to the great tunes playing in the background and was completely at peace and so happy!!! The music was so great that I wished there was a group of pals with me because I would have made them get up and we all would have danced at the pool! It would not be the first time I have done that!

Spent about an hour there and came down here for my afternoon coffee. Need to go shower and get ready for 6pm MDR. Tonight is formal night. Tonight is jam packed with events so I doubt I will be posting again. Tomorrow morning I have the back stage theater tour at 9, but if the weather is nice, may skip it for the pool. (May try and fit in both!) But would have to come in at noon and shower because at 1pm we have the galley tour and I don't want to miss that. Will play it by ear I guess.

I can't believe tomorrow will be my last day posting "LIVE" from the ship! :(:(:(

I am back because I can't wake up this morning and needed the delicious coffee in the concierge. I have to tell you again these 2 guys are WONDERFUL!!!!! We have had so many great chats with them that they feel like familiy! A great great place to hang and have a meal! Make sure, for anyone cruising right after me, that you tell them I said so too!!! They make or may not remember our names, but if you mention the CC poster...oh they will remember!!!!!! xoxo to them!!!

......

Enjoying your wonderful posts. Thank you for taking the time to post!!

Who is the Concierge? Is it Julian? He was our Concierge on Enchantment a few years ago. He is great.

Toby ~~~~~ hmmmmmm....hate to dicuss the dreaded "clothing" topic, as it is the most heated topic on CC, but you asked and since I shy away from nothing....

I will state MY simple opinion, and also what I saw on formal night, and other nights for that matter. I hope no one comments on it and opens anything negative or heated. Based on who has posted thus far, I am sure no one will.

Formal night has been, is, and will always be a mixed bag. Some people LOVE to dress up and they should! Some people don't like to and they should. Clothing does not alter my own experience or change how my food tastes. I don't care what anyone else wears, and they shouldn't care what I wear. Period.

What I saw.....

Formal night....I saw tuxes (though not the majority) and yes I saw jeans, though not many on that particular night. Jeans are accepted in the dinning room. No one wearing them is turned away!

Other nights.....more jeans seen than formal nights of course, but a small percentage. There are some men who I see wear jackets and ties EVERY NIGHT and some women are dressed to the max each night! Good for them! They look wonderful. After dinner, jeans are much more noticable of course. And guess what....good for them! They look wonderful!!:D

If you look in your mirror before you go to dinner and you like what you see...then shut off the light, put the make up room card in, and go have a great meal and night!!

I really don't like to quote, but I had to to say I love these comments! if it was on facebook, we could all just it the like button, maybe we need one of those on here!

thanks for all the wonderful posts, I'm so ready for my Oasis cruise in Oct, but first is FOS in 5 weeks!

dzboss1, it's been so much fun to "come along for the ride" on your magnificent Oasis cruise! Each post contains another activity or location I add to my list of things to check out when I get onboard Aug 7!!!

I can hardly wait! You definitely convey the feeling of awe and wonder that I know I, too, will experience. I also want to applaud your upbeat attitude where the weather's concerned. Yes, sunny and gorgeous every day would be ideal, but when it's not there are plenty of other incredibly entertaining things to do and see, as you describe so enthusiastically! As the saying goes, if life gives you lemons...

Enjoy your last day on this dream ship... I for one would totally understand if you didn't post, but instead spent every last minute immersed in your final Oasis activities. Enjoy yourself (as if I have to tell you that!).

Denise......... Thank you for finding out about the stargazing xx AND for the best "live" review I have read in ages....... well, since your last one LOL

We are all packed now and will be leaving "not so sunny" Scotland in a few hours to fly to Heathrow, then on to Miami, so I can't read any responses till I get back ....

I won't even ask if you've enjoyed yourself as I know you live life to the full anyway BUT.......... I am sorry to say this......... I'm coming to chase you off on Saturday LOL

I really wish we could have cruised with you and Harvey this week, but we couldn't book as the men wanted to go to The Open (golf) at St.Andrews, but hey..... we'll catch up again

see you soon, and by the way, to anyone cruising July 31st, I AM NOT GETTING OFF !!!!

It's about 12:30 am and I am using the keyboard on the tv to post. The internet can also be accessed in your cabin. Hubby and I are exhausted! It was another wonderful and busy night on the Oasis. Too tired to answer posts or go through the night, but will say we were part of Oasis history in seeing a new addition to the entertainmet lineup. First ngiht, first show, and it was GOOD!!

Tomorrow is a busy day. I am sad to say packing my 6 pieces of luggage is part of it. I have an early day with the behind the scenes theater tour at 9..so another 7am wake up call. Will answer all your posts, fill you in on the night, and my day and night ahead at some point...hmmmm..was going to say tomorrow, but tomorrow is today!! I have crossed over to day 7...DAMN!!!

Good morning!

Another night of just 5 hours of sleep and I am excited to start my day!!

Last night was formal night. Handful of tuxes, most men wore suits or jackets and ties...very few long dresses, but lots of cocktail dresses...and lots of less dressy clothes too. Everyone looked great regardless what they wore!! Saw ONE pair of jeans only!! The peach soup was AWESOME!!!!

Saw a "first" ! At 7:45, in the Jazz room..which by the way is beautiful and intimate... we saw a cabaret show called Broadway Live with Tracy and "Edna" from Hairspray. It was the first time they had it...just added to the compass and the first showing. He "Edna" had a great voice, she had an amazing one, and is ADORABLE! Many of the hairspray cast were there to see it for the first time so that was fun! Don't miss it!!

I think I forgot to mention we missed the first 20 minutes, but caught the rest of the Belly Flop contest at the aqua theater in the afternoon. Great fun!! Just watching Richard Spacey is entertainment enough!

Last night after the Jazz club, we saw Come Fly with me. Again, don't miss this! Actually, don;t miss ANYTHING on this ship!!!!

We went to the casino and was going to go see the fountain show at the aqua theater, but we ended up at this amazing black jack table and all of a sudden it was 12:15am!! We had so much fun. The dealers here by the way are so much fun and we met some great people at the table!

The weather today is a mix of sun and clouds but the deck is calling my name, so I am going to pass on the back stage theater tour and get up on deck by 9. Will hang out there till about 11:00, shower, eat, and positively take the 1:00 galley tour!!! It's about an hour or so, will go back to room and do (plz pull these words back into my throat)...packing. Then next event will be BINGO at 4:15. Yes, I intend on making it finally there today (last day:mad::()

Haven't looked at tonight's events yet.

Denice,

You have our sympathies for the upcoming painful task of packing. But look at it from our standpoint: After tomorrow, no longer will we be able to look forward to your wonderful daily reports. No longer will we log into CC just to see if you have visited the boards, and what you have posted. No longer will we have the colorful descriptions of your day's escapades. You are fantastic. How about joining us for our Oasis cruise next year. We won't be on board her until September 10th of 2011, but, your posts have raised our anticipation level exponentially.

Please, Please, Please post some of your photos for those of us who are less fortunate to view. We can actually FEEL your excitement and the wonder of the ship, but would love to SEE some of it through your eyes. Congratulations on a fantastic cruise. You must do it again. Thank you for the vivid views through our mind's eyes. You should write a book about your cruises! (hint-hint).:D Looking forward to more posts. Thanks again.

Rusty
