money for casino

If I want to play slots and/or table games, do I need to walk in with cash?

If I charge to my sail card (sorry not sure what it is called) is there a charge?

One more, if I can charge to my sail card, can I put it in a machine and ask to load $50 then take the card out and go to the cage get cash in my hand ?

You do need cash to put into the slot machines. If you charge cash to your cruise card, you will be charged a 3 percent fee.

Do yourself of favor. Call Princess before your cruise and buy yourself casino credits. You can buy in $100 increments. Determine how much you think you will need and order that amount. Upon boarding, your room steward will deliver vouchers to your cabin in the amount you ordered. Take them to the casino cashier and they will give you cash. It will be charged to your credit card with no fee and you will receive your mileage (or whatever other incentive your credit card offers).

Wrong info.. The slots are cashless. You insert your cruise card and set up a pin. You can then charge to your card with no fee. If you need money for table games take your card to the cashier and withdraw. Again no fee.

Actually you do have choices other than cash. Cash does work but you will still need to set up an account using your cruise card if you win or want to take money out of the machines. No more coins dropping:(

By setting up an account using your cruise card at the machine you can charge the amount to your shipboard account right at the machine without the 3% surcharge. (No charge for the cash at any time using this system). Some folks set up an account; charge $100 to their account; play for a little while; use the machine to return the remaining money to their cruise card; then take their cruise card to the cashier and get the money in cash.

IF you get cash from the cashier there is a 3% surcharge.

Whichever system you decide to use BE sure to cash out your winnings (or remaining money) to your card before you leave the casino. YOu can leave the winnings on your card for the length of the cruise (Must be cashed in on last night).

Please do not do what I saw one man do on my last cruise. He had won a substantial amount (over $100) and did not realize it. He took his cruise card out of the machine and was about ready to get on the elevator when I caught up with him and told him he had money still in the machine. He was very surprised and glad that I had caught him. Don't know how often that happens but once would be enough for me.

If I want to play slots and/or table games, do I need to walk in with cash? For table games you will need cash. For slots, you can either use cash or using your cruise card load some money that will be charged to your shipboard account. Any payoffs from the slot machine will be put on your cruise card and you will need to go to the casino cashier to get the cash that is on your cruise card. (Be sure to not leave the slot machine before uploading any money still in the machine to your card.)

If I charge to my sail card (sorry not sure what it is called) is there a charge? If you put cash on it at the slot machine, there is no charge. If you get money from the casino cashier that is charged to your onboard account, there will be a 3% charge.

Yes, but there have been some postings that doing this multiple times will result in the loading to be rejected as the ship does not want the slot machines to be used as ATM machines.

Has anyone been a winner playing blackjack, craps, or roulette? If so, approximately how much did you win?

I'd like to know if I should even bother going to the casino.

Thanks,

I play the table games---3 card and Blackjack in particular. Sometimes I win, more often I do not. I do not do any worse on the ship (or better) than in Vegas, etc. I generally bring cash with me and keep it in the room safe so that I do not have to incur the 3% surcharge, and dole it out during the length of the cruise. I find the post about setting up an account quite interesting, and may try that one for my next cruise. If I order too much, it would be a situation of cashing it back the last night, is that correct? I kind of like the idea of being able to get my air mileage on that money too......

Correct, any monies advanced to your slot account are charged directly to the onboard account and subsequently the credit card used for that account at the end of the cruise.

Your casino account must be zeroed/cashed out by the last evening or you will receive a late night call to come down to the casino.;)

We always bring cash to play the slots but I don't remember having to put any winnings on my cruise card? Maybe I just didn't win anything during that trip. LOL!

The RCL cruise we just went on printed out a ticket that you either inserted into another machine to use or brought to the window to redeem for cash. I'd rather have this option than have to put things on my card as we keep our casino money separate.

So I am clear,

in scenerio 1 above-- if I play for awhile then go to the cashier to get the money in cash,is there a 3% charge

or only if I walk up to the cashier and ask for money??

Things have changed. You have to upload the winnings, or cash out the machine, to your slot bank on your cruise card now. The machines no longer pay out in coins (except for maybe one or two of the smaller ships that have not had the new machines installed yet). ;)

Charge is only if you walk up - or ask for it at a table game. At the slots there is no charge.

As another poster wrote, it's like any other casino. House advantage at blackjack is a little more than in Vegas due to the dealer hitting soft 17, but otherwise it's the same game (beware the single deck 6-to-5 games though). Craps offers 2X odds. On our 10 day cruise last December, DW and I had some good sessions and some bad - including one "golden" evening for her. At the end, we came away up a couple of hundred.

Good luck and enjoy your cruise. Andy.

Every casino in Las Vegas that I can recall has the dealer hitting a soft 17, so your odds on blackjack are the same.

No charge at casino cashier to get cash for casino money that is on your cruise card, either your winnings or what you loaded from your onboard account.

3% charge applies if you need cash taken from your onboard account at the casino cashier
