Mariner VS Voyager?

Thanks Again everyone. I really do appreciate the feedback! How do we live without the internet! Does anyone know how much the fees for the internet cafes are? Can you "surf" the web? Or is it just an email portal. Thanks!

It's 50 cents per minute, and yes you can surf the web as well as send and receive e-mail. You can however buy blocks of time that bring the cost down to 33 cents per minute if I remember correctly. It's not broadband speed though, it's more like slow dial-up! If you prefer you can bring your own laptop and connect in your cabin, unlimited access, for $100 per week.

Having sailed both (Voyager Apr '03, Mariner Jul '04), I think some are saying the the voyager is probably better because it was their first experience on a "Voyager" class ship. We all know how hard it is to beat a first experience if it was positive. With that said, if this is your first time on the Voyager Class then I'd say go with the Mariner, not for any other reason other than convenience. They are both great ships but you really won't know what you're missing from one ship to another with this being your first time.

We'll be on the Mariner in Jun '05 for the second time mostly because it's easier for us to get to Port Canaveral.

Enjoy your cruise either way.

Nope, the Voyager is our favorite ship because of all the reasons stated earlier. We consider ourselves somewhat seasoned cruisers, and feel that we have enough cruises under our belt to be able to distinguish between just liking a ship simply because it was our first experience versus the issues we had. We felt there are somethings like service that should be the same no matter which ship we sail on for that particular cruise line. I also think it's tacky for the crew on the Mariner to tell pax that we should stay on the next week since the crowd will be younger and they were chilling out the week we went since the crowd was a lot older (which is was) especially for a Voyager ship. We were told this by 2 different bar tenders, and the DJ. We were told that when our group wasn't in the casino having a ball making noises, that the casino was dead. Same for the Dragon's Lair. We made the party the crew only would participate once "we" got things going. We still had a blast, but seems to me the staff on the Voyager take more pride in their work and don't care how old the pax are, their goal is to make sure everyone has a good time and they put 100% effort into doing that. Not just on the weeks that are convenient for them.

I AGREE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY.... I felt on the mariner they did not catter to us like the VOYAGER, we never met are housekeeper, on the mariner they forgot to put towels and animal's at night i always got thing like compass late. Though the dinning room staff was GREAT!!!

Both are wonderful ships they both have there own style, I felt like the VOYAGER had more of a mall ish are like for instance they sold tommy hilfigure & Guess & Paulo merchandise while the MARINER sold none of the {Guess pocetbooks though}

the perade on the Mariner was not that great the VOYAGER perade was excellent!!!

There are ups and sowns on both ship but my FAV is the VOYAGER, and will be sailing on it to Aruba in MAY 7th 2005, CANT wait to be back on the ship again!!!!!

Wow! You guys are awesome! I am just in awe of the feedback I am getting. I can't wait to add my feedback after we go! I know regardless of what ship, we will still be awestruck and have a great time. But you all have really given me great insight to these ships. I think next year we will book a cruise for the whole family and I think I will try Voyager then based on some of the information regarding the adventure oceans club. I'm already wishing I would have included the kids this time around, I just know I am going to see kids having fun and be heart broken and home sick. But, its our honeymoon, we deserve the time alone...right? :o Anyways, thanks again everyone. I hope others are getting as much useful information as I am!

Actually, you could probably take the kids on a Voyager class ship and not see them all week! The ship is that big and there is so much to do.

As to the above, Explorer is not my favorite because she was my first Voyager class ship. Comparing Explorer to Mariner.... Explorer had a better crew. They were happier. Our cabin attendent was friendlier. He made up our cabin earlier in the day and the dining room service was MUCH better. The art work in the forward staircase on Mariner is hideous. And that is part of why I like Explorer better. That isn't to say that I don't like Mariner.
