Monte Carlo to St. Paul de Vence

We're arriving in Monte Carlo on Sunday, Aug. 29 on the Pacific Princess. Does anyone know of a taxi/van service in Monte Carlo that will take you to St. Paul de Vence on a Sunday and return you to port four to five hours later??? We've been in this area before, so we don't want a tour, just transportation. We don't want to fool with buses, trains or rental cars! We'd appreciate any suggestions.

the driving distance is around 25km and will take at least 45 minutes. A taxi will be expensive. As a guide, the taxis from Monte Carlo to the Nice airport (slightly less far) cost around 90-100EUR on Sundays. (There is a surcharge on taxis on Sundays).

A cheaper option would be to take a train or a bus to Nice, then a taxi from there. But check the schedules (www.sncf.fr) first as Sunday trains are not as frequent as weekday ones. Same for busses.

There is another post which will tell you lots more about how to do this ... look at: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1241997

Thank you so much. I'll certainly check out these schedules and the other post today. I'm kind of suprised there isn't bus transportation to and from St. Paul de Vence to Monte Carlo and other port towns. You'd think it would behoove St. Paul to provide such a service!

Yes, you can mortgage your home and pay a taxi. A much less costly alternative is to take the bus (the 100 line works fine) from Monte Carlo (you can walk from pier to the bus stop) to the Nice Gare Routiere bus station (this is the end of the line) where you then get the bus from there to St Paul de Vence. The other public transport alternative is to take the train from Monte Carlo to Cagnes sur Mer (this is just past the Nice Cote d'Azur Airport stop) where you can then catch the bus (this is the same bus that starts from Nice) to St Paul de Vence. Personally, we prefer to simply rent a car when we are on the riviera and drive ourselves to St Paul de Vence (and elsewhere) but this does become difficult on Sundays except in Cannes (there is at least one rental car dealer open in Cannes on Sundays).
