Closest beaches

..upon which you'll find Lobster Alive, Boatyard, Harbour Lights and a few other spots to chill.

Easiest close-by spot to access the C.Bay beach (cost free) is Lobster Alive

which charges no admission, but does charge for their BIIIG umbrellas and chairs

I believe the deal gets you a free drink or sumthin

-and once you're on the beach you'll see how big it is,

running all the way to Hilton on the point to your left(facing the sea),

and Bridgetown to your right.

If it's not a hot day (or you're young or "into" walking) yes you can walk to it

-it's just the other side of Bridgetown's shopping center-

about 20-25 mins. walk should put you on the spot.

By taxi it's 5 mins.

Use Google Earth to check the area out!

-no better way of 'being there' prior to actually being there! ;)

Thanks Aplmac....we just booked the Harbour Master

but my MIL will do one of your suggested beaches...thank you so much!

Harbour Master is a pretty good way to spend a day! ;)

The 80ft. boat isn't much to look at from the outside looking IN

but once you're on board, she big, comfortable, stable

and you can choose from 3 decks.

SUN deck up top (sunscreen PDF 50?)

Mid deck where many hang out

and the lower deck where you first board ship -boasting a verrrry long bar.

I reckon there's a good chance you'll have a nicer more relaxing,fun day

than your M-I-L on that hot beach, but there may be a certain justice in that? :D :D

I'm attaching a bunch of pics that may help your anticipation..

Alpmac, We have several couples who are planning to have lunch at Lobsters Alive. We are planning on getting a large umbrella on the beach while lunching. The ladies can relax on the beach while a few of the guys go jet skiing at the boat yard. Are the Boat Yard and Lobsters alive close enough that we can do this or will we have to leave lobster alive to go to the boat yard?

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi, I don't want to hi-jack this thread but I do have a question for Aplmac that might be related to what has been asked above.

Some years ago when in Barbados we ate at a resturant that had the best Flying Fish. We got to this resturant by walking through the Barbados shopping district, turning right at a statue and then continuing over a bridge. After the bridge we turned right and eventually came to a place where there was alot of activity. This resturant was in a strip center, and the patio was on a beach. I do know that the port was to our right when facing the water, although you could not see the ships. Does this sound like the Boatyard and Carlisle Bay?

I am sorry to be so vague in my directions, it is hard to remember and I didn't bring home anything with the name of the place. It was not that far of a walk from the shopping district.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Aplmac-we are a group of 4 coming to barbados in January.

We'd like to go to Lobster's Alive

-do we need to reserve beach chairs/umbrella for the day? ===> Couldn't hurt I guess, but normally not necessary

Do they have a way to email them?

Yes, they have email, but I'm but not sure of the address. Art Taylor is the guy's name.

try Google-ing for a website?

It could have been Boatyard but it sounds like the place right next door

...recently re-named Whispers

but neither me nor the wife can remember what the name was before that..sorry. :o

Your directions are quite accurate, by the way.

:) Thanks Aplmac,

We will ask the taxi driver to take us to Carlisle Bay and then hunt for the restaurant from there. I am pretty sure where it was located, just no idea what the name was. Would probably recognize it easier from the street than from the beach.
