jet3160 Posted July 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2010 So how do they compare: Celebrity Elite vs RCCL Diamond benefits I am considering letting the benefits make the decision for the next cruise. I like Celebrity - a little more formal, a few less children But love the staff on RCCL - they seem so much friendlier.
starlake Posted July 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2010 I think Celebrity's benefits are much better. We flip-flop between the two cruise lines and really enjoy them both. I agree with you that as a whole the Royal Caribbean staff is more friendly, but we have found many friendly people on Celebrity. At times I just enjoy the more quiet, more refined cruise of Celebrity and other times love all the activities of RC.

Host Kewlguy Posted July 30, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2010 While Celebrity has certainly narrowed the gap in terms of "perks" for their Elite members in comparison to the Diamond perks on Royal, the one big advantage in favor of Royal is the Diamond Balcony discount which Celebrity doesn't offer to their Elite members. royalcruz Posted July 30, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2010 The only perk that we use on Celebrity is the internet minutes. The daily elite happy hour ends at 6! We love the RCCL diamond lounges, but haven't sailed since they made changes to their nightly receptions.
DHADEN Posted July 30, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 30, 2010 We switched over to Celebrity two years ago, when RCI was deleting the Diamond Perks. When we were on the Infinity, we found out that most of the perks that they have taken away from the Diamond members, they have ADDED to the Elite members on Celebrity. I really believe that Corporate Powers to Be made a decision to MOVE RCI's Diamond members over to Celebrity. I think they are focussing on New Cruisers for RCI because they spend more $$ on the "Family Play" ships. On Celebrity, the coupon books are actually usable, the Michael's Club happy hour (although only 4 to 6) is like the Concierge lounge, and we thought the staff on the Infinity was as good or better than any RCI ship we've been on. They all really went out of their way to make every passenger feel special. Donna & I both were saying, "This is as good as RCI used to be!" throughout the whole cruise. Hope This Helps.
