We are coming into Venice via train and would like to know if anyone has a sugguestion for a hotel near the train station? And not so far from the cruise port.

Also how far is it from the train station to the port?

Thanks for your help,

The Hotel Papadopoli Venezia (formerly Sofitel, and now a member of the MGallery collection) is located in the historic city center, close to the Grand Canal and Constitution Bridge, which leads to Piazzale Roma and the train station

We stayed here in May before our cruise, very nice and less than 5 minutes walk to Piazzale Roma.

If you do a search on this board for "Piazzale Roma hotel" you will find several recommendations.

From the Santa Lucia train station, you need to get across the Grand Canal to Piazzale Roma. There is a pedestrian bridge (many steps) or you can take a vaporetto for one stop.

From there to the cruise port is about a half mile.

Just to offer a few clarifications:

The bridge from the train station to Piazzale Roma does have many steps, but they are very small steps to accommodate people with rolling luggage.

Also, many cruise lines offer a shuttle bus service (usually for free) from Piazzale Roma to the cruise terminal (it's a short 7 minute ride).

Hi,

Here's a site that seems to have some easy to understand and practical information. I haven't read it extensively yet, but you might have fun exploring it for us!!
