Rare TracieABD Posted August 7, 2010 #76 Share Posted August 7, 2010 If you are really, really worried about this, just put it next to your cell phone... That will do the trick! (will demagnatize the card and will render it useless).
Coracii Posted August 8, 2010 #77 Share Posted August 8, 2010 I know, for shame I did not read the whole thread and respond. Oops :oI have to say I will probably be neurotic and not leave them... I always take mine, but only because I collect the cards from hotels and cruise ships. I have dozens of them in a file box for no good reason at all.... Colo Cruiser Posted August 8, 2010 #78 Share Posted August 8, 2010 I use my on board cards when I get home by putting a magnetic strip on the back and turn them into magnets. Now we have a ship magnet of every cruise we've been on. Great idea! :)
ibfern Posted August 8, 2010 #79 Share Posted August 8, 2010 I hope you read the other responses. The hotel key cards DO NOT have your personal info on them. They are deactivated when you check out. I did read it, after I responded! :o
diraebrad Posted August 8, 2010 #80 Share Posted August 8, 2010 Last year on my trip to the British Isles, I had notified CapitalOne because I was using that for my actual credit card transactions, and had no trouble with them, but I failed to notify WashingtonMutual (now Chase) where my bank account was. My debit transaction was denied in Scotland and I had a 20 minute cell phone call from the ship trying to figure out what the problem was, and without being able to access any local currency. Lesson learned. My next trip to Panama I will be notifying everyone.
