pmacher61 Posted August 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2010 I am pasting as a new thread a question I posted in a thread on a related topic because I now see it will be overlooked in that other thread. I really don't want to get into a debate about smuggling booze on board, not do I seek to hear from those who want to condemn (or support) those who try to evade cruiseline restrictions re bringing bottles of wine/booze on board. What I am concerned about is whether, as the RCCL online FAQs expressly provide (though not expressly so provided in the Guest Conduct Policy) bottles of alcohol will be confiscated if found in luggage and not returned. This in addition to being denied boarding (which I have never ever heard done). I favor some pretty expensive booze and wine which I would not like to forfeit although I could easily live with it being confiscated and returned to me at the end of the cruise. Can someone inform me whether RCCL really permanently confiscates wine/booze discovered in luggage?

PhoenixCruiser Posted August 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2010 From what I have read it varies from ship to ship. Some will return the bottles, some won't. ###
FLACRUISER99 Posted August 3, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2010 I would not count on getting it back.
tahqa Posted August 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 3, 2010 It depends. As for being denied boarding... I know of one reported instance. Though I believe the jury is still out as to whether or not that actually happened.
cb at sea Posted August 3, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2010 It it's in the original, unopened bottle, they'll generally return it. If you put it in some other container, or it's been opened, they'll throw it out.
Retired LEO Posted August 3, 2010 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2010 They no longer return it. They're not a storage facility.

Paul65 Posted August 3, 2010 #10 Share Posted August 3, 2010 The answer used to be that you would get it back at the end of the cruise. More recent reports seem to indicate that this is changing, so the answer now is a firm maybe.
