Red Sea Magic Cruise on Thomson Celebration

Recommended Posts

Hi there

I am new to the forum so I do apologise if I have posted in the wrong section. My Husband and I are looking at doing our first ever cruise.

We are both 25 and have never cruised before so need to know a few details. We want to go away in Dec or Jan time so been looking into the Red Sea magic cruise on board the Thomson celebration. :)

A few questions are:

1. As the cruise is full board are you able to pay for drinks as you have them or does it have to all be settled at the end of the stay?

2. We are keen to do some trips but would love to know approximate prices on them and which ones are the best to do or ones to not bother with?

3. We are not sure what type of cabin to go for? Having not cruised before we want a nice cabin but don't want to pay over the odds for something we won't spend much time in.

We looked at outside cabins on deck 3/4 and also deluxe cabins on decks 6/7. Also is it possible to have a cabin with a double bed?

4. Does anyone know the cost of drinks on board? Ie for a glass of coca cola, beer or wine etc?

5. And what is the entertainment like too?

Sorry for so many questions but just want to clarify a few things before we decide to book.

Thank you

Stacey xxx

Hi there

We are both 25 and have never cruised before so need to know a few details. We want to go away in Dec or Jan time so been looking into the Red Sea magic cruise on board the Thomson celebration. :)

A few questions are:

1. As the cruise is full board are you able to pay for drinks as you have them or does it have to all be settled at the end of the stay?

All onboard spending except the casino is added to your onboard account and you pay at the end. all meals are included except the speciality restaurant where you pay a cover charge. Food and tea/coffee is available 24hrs

2. We are keen to do some trips but would love to know approximate prices on them and which ones are the best to do or ones to not bother with? For the 2 days in Aqaba most people do the Wadi Rum and Petra excursions. then you have the Pyramids and Luxor which is either 1 or 2 days with a overnight stay in a hotel.

this years prices

Petra - £82 inc lunch

Wadi Rum - £34

Pyramids - £75 inc lunch

Luxor - £82 inc lunch

Luxor overnight - £135 inc hotel and meals

In most deluxe cabins you can have either a double or 2 single beds but the normal cabins are usually in a 'L' configuration. Generally i would say book a cabin in the front 3rd of the ship to ensure you are well away from the engines.

4. Does anyone know the cost of drinks on board? Ie for a glass of coca cola, beer or wine etc? Currently £3.10 for beers and about £3.50 for wines

5. And what is the entertainment like too? Others are better qualified to comment than me as I usually only watch the comedian.

Sorry for so many questions but just want to clarify a few things before we decide to book.

The main entertainment in the show lounge will be musical type shows which are very well done (twice each evening) if you like that sort of thing.....singing live to backing tracks...and dancing...usually a themed type show perhaps Music from the Movies, ABBA music, 60s ...that type of thing. there will be a different show each night for 6 nights out of 7 and usually a comedian for the other night (we've seen some brilliant comedians)....as well as this there will be cabaret around the ship and perhaps a duo playing middle of the road music in a bar..also Karaoke somewhere ..May be a band on the open deck during the day playing live ...may be a play during the day...depends who the Cruise Director is as to what entertainment he arranges during the daytime...on this itinerary the ship is usually quite empty daytimes as most people are on the superb trips! :)

Just to add....my OH does this cruise for the snorkelling trips, not the ancient sites. Next Jan will be our 2nd time, and as before, we'll have a week in Sharm first, where he can snorkel from the beach., then he goes with ship's tours or to a local hotel. At Paradise Beach, he was snorkelling as an osprey was fishing. On the last day, there's a trip off at 7am-ish, which gets you back in time for a late lunch; a shower room is given to you for 20mins, then you can sit around until your coach comes for the airport.

Jo.
