Radisson Ambassador Hotel

Can anyone give their feedback on this hotel? We are looking at staying there possibly 1 night pre-cruise in November. Is this in a good location and are there things to do and places to eat around the hotel?

I haven't stayed there yet, but we are booked for 2 nights pre-cruise in March. Our TA had stayed there and said it was fine. There are very mixed reviews here and on tripadvisor. It isn't close to OSJ, but not an expensive cab ride away (approx 7 minutes). There are a few stores and restaurants close by (within a block) according to some of the reviews I have read.

Hopefully we can get some more info on here.

We stayed one-night precruise and had no problems at all. There are restaurants close by and also a Walgreens. Taxi service to the port was as near as the front door.

I stayed there a few years ago and it was ok; the area is a little run down. As I recall there was Burger King next door; but plan to order a number (nobody spoke English).

You can walk a few blocks if you go right out of the hotel and that is where the Walgreens is etc and a few other shops. The Marriott is a few blocks from here as well. I also stayed at the Marriott but thought it was grossly overpriced and had black water coming out of the faucet.

If you are looking for someplace to buy beer/booze etc; there is not much around as I recall (maybe a 7-11 a few blocks to your left).

Hope this helps.

I'm in the area at least a couple of times a year and the Radisson is my favorite casino. It's an older building and I haven't been in the rooms but the little sports bar on the top floor is nice and the whole place is friendly. I have never been anywhere in San Juan where the people can't speak English but I've never been to that Burger King. The Walgreens a few blocks away can probably fill most of your shopping needs. There are several restaurants within walking distance - go out the front door and turn right and there will be many options. The area is completely safe at night and into the wee hours of the morning.

there are new hotels in the area that were under construction or under huge renovations a few years ago and that was an eye sore but not anymore. Also, spanish is the language of Puerto Rico, inside the hotel english is a required second language for employees who have to deal with tourists everyday, but outside there is no need for that language since 99.9% of the population in Puerto Rico speaks spanish, i do not think you can find employees who are truly fluent in a second language at $6 dollars an hour, even if you are talking about a fast food rest. in a tourist zone like Condado where you expect to find a lot of tourist walk ins, if you are fluent in a second language you are working in a hotel that pays over 9 dollars an hour, not in a fast food restaurant.

there is a mini market that sells liquor, also there is a huge supermarket 5 blocks south east from the hotel that also sells liquor.
