Most important question 4 me

Will i be bored at some point?

That was a problem when i went on the Carnival Triumph, there were times un between meals that i just was bored in. I laid out and tanned for hours, but that didn't cover the whole day. Will there be enough to get me through the rough spots?

I guess only you can really answer that - what ship are you going on - i suggest you go on the freedom or oasis class ships, and maybe go where there is ONLY two sea days - one in the beginning and one at the tail end of the cruise. Take a book, do classes that you never thought you would do, do everything there is to do, you only live once. Just relax and be glad you are on a cruise and not at home doing dishes and laundry :)

Oh, let me add to this, we were on the voyager class ship on royal and we met these people who were on the carnival ship that you were on and we all were talking during our shore excursion and she said oh, yall are on the fun ship w/ lots of things to do - so, maybe it was just the ship itself - i know it's smaller - maybe someone else will chime in...

You're pretty much in charge of what you participate in and what you don't so...it's completely up to you how bored you get. The larger ships have to entertain more people, therefore stands to reason they'd have more activities going on, however if they aren't things you're wanting to do that doesn't help you.

Relaxing is part of the fun for me on vacation so I look forward to some time to chill out, but others seem to need to be kept busy. To each their own.

I'd definitely stick to the big ships though.

Cheers

That was the problem right there alone:p

I don't remember ever being bored. If I have some time to kill, I'll plant myself in some high-traffic area with a book, and watch the peeps go by. You don't get much reading done, but it can be entertaining.

I was looking for something to do on the Explorer once, when they announced the art auction, so off I went. Say what you will about the auctions (not here, please, that's rhetorical), if the auctioneer is halfway decent, you'll learn some stuff about art & artists.

Cruising isn't for everyone. It is just possible that the OP would be happier and less bored on a land-based vacation. Then he would have more control of what activities are offered and what he can do when.

I would suggest, however, that Oasis and Allure or Freedom of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas and Independence of the Seas are all ships that have a great deal to offer. He might also enjoy the new NCL Epic or the yet-to-be-launched Disney Dream when it begins sailing.

I am thinking of taking the Serenade of the seas for the 7 day, only one day at sea cruise. what do you think? Thanks.

For us, we are never bored. We go to shows every night, hang out by the pools, enjoy the different ports, get to know the waiters in the main dining room (MDR) every night, and wake up late. We don't spend much time doing nothing because we are active people.

Like others have said, only you know if you will be bored. IMO, you would have to try pretty hard to be bored with pools, shows, gambling, games, rock climbing, mini golf, surfing, ice skating, movies, drinking, dancing, sports, and cruise director activities going on all day and night.

We've done Voyager class, Freedom Class, and Oasis. Like most of you, we've never found ourselves with nothing to do. But we also did the seven day Serenade cruise with the 5 ports of call. If you're someone who likes to be constantly on the go, this is definitely the one for you. And the ports of call on this cruise turned out to be some of our favorites.

We were on the Oasis which had three at sea days and three port days, and I literally had to force myself to just sit on the deck with a book the last at sea day of our cruise. The other two at sea days, there was so much to do, I never got out to the pool! There are shows, trivia contests, classes, eating, the art auction was interesting, the Oasis has a book called Live the Oasis with lots of stuff to do on the ship like look for all the stuff then there's an Oasis trivia contest at the end of the cruise. Don't forget also the zip line, the waverunners, ping pong, mini golf (which I never got to do), rock climbing wall, the gym, the spa, the track, on the Oasis there was the Boardwalk with the merry go round and fortune teller guy, both of which I never got to try, there's bingo, the casino, the shops, wow, there's so much to do, you can never be bored! Maybe that's just the Oasis though.

My problem is remembering to turn the pages once in awhile so it appears that I might actually be reading instead of people-watching. ;)

My problem is finding the time to do everything that I want, not a lack of things to do. I usually get off the ship with a list of things that I intended to do, but never had the time. On ships like Oasis and Allure that list is likely to be even longer.:)

How can one possibly get bored on a Carnival ship? It's like watching the Jerry Springer show 24/7!!! :) :) :)

Seriously...Some people can be bored anywhere...

OF course, it would be hard to take ANY vacation...there is always some point when you're just sitting around at the hotel or the beach or the pool...or you're waiting in an airport or train station...

But, on a ship, there are usually several activities going on at any one time...

On the bigger, newer RCCL ships, there are several active venues including Rock Climbing, Ice Skating, Golf, Surfing, Zip lines...Provided you're capable of doing these things, there are always thing to do--more amenities than you'll find in any land resort...

It is really hard for me to picture ever being bored...but other people are different...

My family and I were on the Triumph for 13 nights on the millennium cruise and were never bored. John Heald was the cruise director - the funniest and best c.d. we've ever come across!

As for the ship there was always something to do on board. That was our first and probably last Carnival cruise since we aren't big partiers, but if I had the opportunity to sail on a ship John Heald was working on I'd grab at it!

Fun is what you make of it

Happy sails

~ Liz
