Bendigonian Posted August 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2010 Does anyone know, what currency the Casino on the NCL Gem accepts, is it American dollars only? Regards Sara Hi Again Sara, I have read it's US$'s and also unlike other ships you need the cash as NCL don't allow you to 'Book' it up on your Cruisecard, maybe some-one could enlighten us further? My flutter is usually Bingo & Pokies Ursi
SteveH2508 Posted August 20, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 20, 2010 You can draw cash for the casino against your shipboard account ($2000 per day). This is treated as merchandise so no cash advance fee on your credit card.
lubvegasnew2cruisn Posted November 6, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2010 I don't mean to hi-jack this thread, and if I should post this as a new thread please let me know. I;ve never been on a cruise before, and I've read online that the Norwegian Gem was rated as one of the best online casinos? If anyone has any opinions can you please let me know, such as size of the casino, how knowledgeable the casino staff is,variety of games etc? I play craps, and my dh plays roulette? right now we are leaning towards either Norwegian Gem, or RCCL Explorer. thanks much,
TheYearofMe Posted November 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2010 On all of my trips on NCL it works on US dollars. Yes, you can take out 2000 per day on your credit card, however, I've recently read that they will now charge you 3% for using that option. Cash is the best option for me. However, I think the NCL Casinos at Sea is great. I often get comped rooms or deep discounts on my sailing. Once you sail with NCL you are then rated for your next cruise. So if you decide to go with NCL, the next time you sail, call the Casino at Sea department (on NCL website) to see if you rate for a comp or discount for your next cruise. My last four cruises have been comped and it works for me! If you do go with NCL, don't forget to get one of their Casino and Sea cards. This is how you are rated. I found that slot play is rated much higher than table games. If you play table games, then make sure to give your card to the pit boss for your rating.
