Private Tours In Canada

Recommended Posts

I'm sailing on the Jewel 9/21 and am looking to book private (non-ship) tours in Halifax, Quebec City, Corner Brook and Sydney. Any suggestions?

Yes , you will have much better luck with suggestions if you post this on the ports of call board. To generic here .

Good luck

We had a nice tour in Halifax to Peggy's Cove through Shoretrips.com. We had a small van, and I think there were only 7 of us.

We did a private tour with another couple in Sydney on part of the Cabot Trail. The tour guide, Don Blackwood, is very knowledgable. His email address is: donblackwood at seascape dot ns dot ca My husband and I still feel guilty about falling asleep on Don's tour. The day was very gray and rainy, the roads were really smooth, as was Don's driving, and Don had just taken us for a really nice lunch, and well . . . zzzzzzz. Actually, all four of us were doing the zzzzzzz.

In Quebec City, we just walked through the old part of the City and up to the Citadelle.

I think you're going to love your cruise! We sure did. It's been our favorite so far.

Yes, please come join our Roll Call! :) We are all so excited to go and meet each other. We would love to have you join us for the Meet & Greet and the Cabin Crawl, Slot Pull, well - come over to the Roll Call and find out all about it! We seem to be pretty popular - there have been over 5,000 views.

As previously mentioned, there are several people talking about doing private tours. Thanks delighted2sail for directing cruzdaddy to our Roll Call!!

The highlight in Sydney is Fortress Louisbourg. Don't know if private tours are available.

There's not enough time to get to the Cabot Trail? I would have thought it would be a highlight of Sydney. Alexander Graham Bell had a home there...

Also, the coal mines in Glace Bay....

And the casino... :) I think they have 3 tables, and about 25 machines.... or so....

Our tour guide drove us about 3/4 of the way up the East Side of the Cabot Trail to Ingonish. It's just gorgeous. My photos start here: http://travel.webshots.com/album/575533840XdCMRo?start=112

Sottovoce mentioned the Fortress at Louisbourg. I wanted to go there so badly, but all the services (like the food, the actors in costume -- all the neat stuff) were shut down for the season right before we were to visit in October. That is supposedly "the" excursion in Sydney.

I still have a piece of coal they chipped-off for me, from Glace Bay...from when I was a kid.

I'm actually doing the legwork for my parents and their friends but you all have been phenomenal with your suggestions. I'm going to definitely suggest that they join the Roll Call and get together with you onboard. I'm so jealous that I won't be sailing with you but I know you'll all have a wonderful time...Bon Voyage!! AND THANKS AGAIN!!

Ah...this is the ports of call section for Canada...does not compute!!

anyway back to the question at hand, we are doing a similar cruise and are renting cars in a few of the ports. do a search for things to see and do in that city and see what interests you. a car in sydney would work the best to see the fort.:)
