Mykonos beaches?

happy holiday's

Recommended Posts

Mykonos has quite a few decent sandy beaches, but for a port day our preference is for the well known Paradise Beach. This particular sandy beach is easily (and cheaply) reached by just taking the local bus from the bus station located near the windmills (the opposite side of town from the port). Paradise has nice facilities (oddly including an outdoor swimming pool) chair rentals, bathrooms, etc. There are a few more private beaches (with less in the way of amenities) that can actually be reached by taking a boat from Paradise (one example is Super Paradise).

My husband and I will be in Mykonos in September...does anyone know of a nice sandy beach to spend the day at????

Hank has provided very good details. There have been many previous posts on this subject. Here are a couple of other suggestions to help you and other future travelers find these previous items. FIRST' date=' scroll back[/b'] through all of the earlier postings. You will see many different items on ports you would visit and/or at the board for each separate cruise line in planning for your upcoming cruise. SECOND, do a search on these boards by each city and you will see lots of postings on various subjects connected with each port stop.

There are lots and lots of great people and information here on these boards. Don't be shy in asking follow-up questions. Folks are happy to share more.

To get you excited about Mykonos, here are some of my visual samples on those beaches, Mykonos, etc. It's a great location with lots to love!

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

On the opposite side of the Mykonos village on the island, here's a sampling of the beachside activities. This includes Agrari, Elia and the long sweeping Kalafatis beach that has become famous to wind surfers:

Thanks so much for the great Pictures.. this is exactly what were looking for. Cathy

THANKS' date=' Cathy, for the nice comments on the pictures. [i'] Lots to love and experience in the Greek Isles! [/i]

Here's another suggestion: Grab, maybe from your library or a book transfer they can do for you, such good visual books such as Eyewitness, Insight, etc. Rick Steves, Fodors, Frommers, etc., can work well, too. No one travel book has it "ALL", perfectly and completely. These resources, especially the visuals one, can you help better figure out your priorities, in advance, for what you want to do and see.

Where all are you traveling in September?

Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

THANKS, Dave, for the kind comments on my pictures! Glad it helps. We didn't do or see any snorkeling while there, but I would check the below, key websites for info on wonderful Mykonos and these options. You can use Google.com to find other options and suggestions for that interest. Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Leave your snorkel gear at home. We have not seen any good snorkeling in Mykonos or anywhere else in the Med. When compared to the Caribbean, Great Barrier Reef, or the South Pacific (the best snorkeling), Europe has little to offer unless you are a certified SCUBA diver.

Thanks for the feedback. DW will not be happy to hear that but a good day at the beach will suffice.
