Regent Pre cruise hotel Vancouver - boarding time?

Hi

We are staying pre-cruise in Vancouver in a hotel paid for by Regent who are flying us in from the UK a day early. I assume they will provide transfers from the hotel to the cruise ship but was wondering what time this might be i.e. will they assume that you want to board early or will the tranfer be nearer to the 2 hour before boarding time. Anyone experienced this in 2010? We are sailing in 2011. PS Do they pay for dinner in the hotel the night before or just the hotel fee?

Many thanks

You are on you own for dinner and breakfast the next day and anything else until you get to the ship.

Depending on the location of your hotel, your documents will tell you how to transfer to the ship. If you are at the Pan Pacific, the bellman will take your luggage for you.

ChatKat,

Believe you are 50/50 on your answer. Dinner isn't included but, breakfast is, at least this year at the Hilton in Anchorage. Believe all the Regent hotel packages include breakfast for each day.

This is why you need the whole story regarding what is included before you decide to do arrangements on your own or thru Regent. Sometimes (rarely) the Regent package comes out pretty close to what you can get on your own without all the hassle.

I think it's hotel deal dependent. In several overnights pre-cruise, no breakfast was included. The OP's documents will let them know what they get with the forced overnight. This isn't a package the OP purchased but an "air related" overnight. When Regent can't get you in the same day as sailaway, they do what's called a "Forced Overnight". It's not as comprehensive as a purchased hotel package.

My own experience in taking the Alaska cruise from the UK, is that, as we were put up in the Pan Pacific in Vancouver, our luggage was taken from our room at a reasonable time in the morning and delivered to our suite on the ship. Breakfast was included, but not dinner and Regent had a room and staff at the hotel where you could sit and have tea/coffee/soft drinks/biscuits etc from around 1030 or so. Or you could have a look around the area if you wished. Around 1230 we were escorted down to the customs and check in area and onto the cruise ship as the Pan Pacific is directly above the dock.

Incidentally, we were upgraded to a beautiful suite in the hotel and were able to watch the cruise ship sailing into the harbour as it arrived on it's southward journey.

I hope your hotel is the Pan Pacific, too. But if not, Regent will have similar arrangements.

The Pan Pacific is a wonderful hotel. We have been staying there since we do another cruise ending in Vancouver each May. There is also a Starbucks adjacent to the hotel. Many venues for dining and shopping within walking distance.

Do be street wise in YVR however. We had a bump theft that happened so fast we didn't know what happened right inside Holt Renfrew. My husband had a bracelet stolen right from his wrist.

Thanks for the info. It looks as if we have been reserved a room at the Sutton Place hotel but did intend to walk down to the docks early morning and see the Navigator arrive. Glad to see that they assume you will want to board early - as we do. Thanks also for the security advice.
