Another question about Liberty of the Seas??

Ok, I have a D3 room on deck six and wanted to know if I should switch it to a higher deck. The higher the better right? When I looked at the current listings for my sailing on 9-19-10 the D3 is more expensive than the other ones. If the higher rooms are better then why is the room on deck six more? This is my first time on LOS and I just want to have a great view. If I change my room to a higher deck at the cheaper price then I should get some money back right? I got to many questions going on in my head :eek::eek:. Thanks for the help

Rooms in a given category are basically the same. Personally, we don't care what deck we are on. We've stayed on upper decks and lower decks, and can't tell the difference. We don't mind the motion so that's not an issue for us. It really comes down to personal preference.

As far as a lower price is concerned, it depends on the restictions (i.e. price for new bookings only, special promotion etc.). You may have to cancel and re-book but that also depends on the restrictions for your booking. D1's, D2's and D3's are all the same size. Higher decks are usually more but when a category is close to sell-out, the rates can differ. Good luck and Bon Voyage!

Deck 6 is a good location.

 

The promenade is just one deck below it and you will find yourself going to the promenade, often.

 

Also, the Sphynx is on deck 5, which has live music, battle of the sexes game show and karaoke.

 

Is your stateroom located forward, midship or aft?

 

The lower the deck, the less movement you feel.

Well on the reservation it says aft but it is not in the back. #6686 (but I might move it). More like the side. I wonder if it will be really noisy from the live music and stuff. I think that I am just stressing over wanting to have the "perfect" vacation. My boyfriend and I do not get to travel to much and we have been saving for this trip since Dec. 2009. So both of us are nervous and excited at the same time. I hope no storms will stop us from going to some ports (crossing my fingers now).

No noise , deck 6 is a great place to be real close to royal promenade and dinning areas. We were in 6630 no noise from below or traffic from elevators.

"Better" means different things:

 

People like higher decks because it's a quick walk up the stairs to the pool, the buffet, and much of the entertainment. Also, the higher decks have a larger percentage of suites, which means fewer rooms on that floor. Fewer rooms means fewer people and less hallway noise. People tend to think higher decks = more expensive.

 

People like Deck 6 because it's just one quick set of stairs down to the Promenade, so it's super-quick to pick up a cup of coffee or a snack at the Promenade Cafe. Deck 6 is closer to more bars and the casino. Also, balconies on Deck 6 are closer to the water than any of the other staterooms, and some people enjoy that closer connection in their personal space.

 

Your view will not be significantly different on any of the decks, so the real question is, "What do you value most in your stateroom"?

 

Yes, if you switch to a less expensive room, you'll get money back . . . but it'll be in the form of OBC (on board credit). Most people find this perfectly acceptable, even desirable.

 

Sometimes the stateroom prices don't make sense, but it has to do with supply and demand or special promotions. For example, there was a time last year when my balcony room was selling for LESS than an outside. I've stayed in an outside, and it's perfectly fine, but WHY would anyone choose it over a balcony?

This cabin appears to be good, but nothing special.

 

You'll be sandwiched between the dining room on Deck 5 below and residential rooms on Deck 7 above, so I can't imagine there'd be a bit of noise other than possible hallway traffic. This is probably as quiet a spot as any on the ship.

 

I agree with you, though, that it isn't "really" aft. In my mind, the only REAL aft cabins are those literally at the back of the ship, which face backwards.

Cruise ship jargon defines aft as to the rear of the midship staterooms (usually rear 1/3 of the ship). Staterooms at the very back would be stern staterooms. Bon Voyage!
