Can one buy rum cakes in St. Thomas that rival the ones sold in Nassau? Also, is there a Del Sol store (their items change colors) in St. Thomas?

Are you kidding? Rum is the middle name of the USVI!:D There is a Del Sol in the Grand Hotel, I believe.

The rum cakes sold on St Thomas are the Tortuga Rum Cakes in the yellowish box. Don't know which brand is sold in Nassau.

 

You can also get rum balls in St Thomas, and those are made in St Thomas.

 

Yes, the Del Sol store is in the old Grand Hotel, but I think the Southern Exposure store in Havensight has some of the Del Sol merchandise. I was in there on Sat, and I heard somebody saying something about the color-changing nail polish.

 

Many of the other stores sell color-changing t-shirts, but they're not the Del Sol brand.

MS411... do you happen to know or remember where to pick up some of those rum balls? We've not been to the Eastern Caribbean (booked for March 2011 on the Ruby) and am not familiar with the area at all. Thanks for the info... I can't wait!

you can buy the Tortuga rum cakes in St Thomas. Your cruise ship may also carry them in the gift shop (Princess does)

Most of the souvenir stores in St Thomas sell the rum balls. In the Havensight area, you can get them at Gourmet Gallery, Captain's Corner stores, Caribana, and probably others. Prices start at less than $6, I think, for the smallest box.

Thanks for the info on the rum balls and rum cakes. I did pick up a few of the rum cakes this past March and they were yummy... so am looking forward to trying the rumballs as well... and probably another rum cake or two!
