billie5 Posted September 11, 2010 #51 Share Posted September 11, 2010 In college, many years ago, we used to joke that it wasn't a good party until the cops got called. That must have been a low class university. The high class schools make a deal with the local constabulary to stay away from the parties. :) Hey. Luddite, let me know if you find an MMA cruise. No snoring! (I had Maxillary-Mandible-Advancement surgery myself -- did wonders for my sleep apnea) Bill

LambKnuckles Posted September 11, 2010 #53 Share Posted September 11, 2010 Alcohol deadens the inhibitions for most people... BUT PEOPLE are responsible for how they act and what they chose to do!! Zero tolerance of violence is mandatory!!! Getting drunk does NOT mean people will fight. I have seen many "wasted" cruisers... some cut off from more alcohol, some in the brig, some confined, some just being taken back to their cabins to sleep it off... but not all fight or chose violence... whether offensively or defensively... harrodsfan Posted September 11, 2010 #54 Share Posted September 11, 2010 Geez, what a snotty thing to say... thats a generalization not a fact. I agree. we have cruised on many lines and the problem is too much alcohol. It doesn't matter what "class" of people are... some people just can't handle alcohol... And sad to say,I have seen this on most cruise lines from time to time.
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted September 11, 2010 Author #55 Share Posted September 11, 2010 Does anybody have a clue as to whether the OP's report was, in fact, true? The OP is a dentist. They don't lie. While I appreciate that vote of confidence, I can say that not everyone (in any profession) is always truthful. In this case, I am only reporting what I heard from a porter. He seemed sincere to me. I too am awaiting any "confirming" reports from others. Tom

I know FOR A FACT that the casino (pit people) kept offering me drinks while I played... OK.. OK, perhaps they were just trying to be hospitable. I try to play with a relatively clear head! ;) (full disclosure: edit: they did not specifically indicate drinks containing alcohol! :) ) Tom
LHP Posted September 11, 2010 #57 Share Posted September 11, 2010 I look at it another way that it should be made more known. That way they will book another cruiseline knowing that Carnival is not going to put up with their BS. Davea That's true..... Three cheers for SECURITY!!! DqALEX Posted September 11, 2010 #60 Share Posted September 11, 2010 I don't think it was the alcohol to blame. It is the class of people. Certain people get drunk and want to fight, but they are not the type of people who typically do well in life. Apparently they do well enough to afford to cruise on Carnival. How true is this statement. 1979 was my first cruise and my God has it gone downhill in the last 5 years. Its not just cruise ships, fly Spirit air, or some other low cost airline, its like being in the NY subway. I've never seen as many fights as I do now in the last two years on cruise ships. We were on the road just after 8 AM, and he was staying on as late as he could due to his late flight. Tom

Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted September 11, 2010 Author #63 Share Posted September 11, 2010 ... I've never seen as many fights as I do now in the last two years on cruise ships. Cheryl and I were speculating that the recent increase (reports of such at any rate) also coincides with increased unemployment and economic hard times. Perhaps this has pushed some folks closer to the point of hostility. Tom

tootsiescurly Posted September 11, 2010 #66 Share Posted September 11, 2010 Actually it was reported that all 15 people kicked off, all wore tuxes to the MDR. There goes your theory. dan40 Posted September 11, 2010 #68 Share Posted September 11, 2010 Just off this morning, and heard this news from a porter. He said "you know it was a wild cruise when you get to work (meaning himself) and there's a Paddy Wagon at the terminal". Reportedly for drunken fighting. I called back onto the ship to see if Don (DGP1111) could dig up any more details (and confirm this as well). Is it just me, or am I hearing this more and more lately? (particularly with Carnival)... Perhaps now they are taking a zero tolerance approach, so more of it becomes "public knowledge". I fully agree with a strict enforcement - though I doubt thick headed people who instigate these kinds of events are really capable of learning... Tom Tom, They learned the bad behavior, they can learn proper behavior too. Crusin6 Posted September 11, 2010 #71 Share Posted September 11, 2010 If you mean by low life someone who doesn't have money. Then how could they afford drinks on the ship.Stupid and drunk comes in all classes .I pick friends by how they act not about how much they make I am sure they have money..and it is probably all in cash. I am lucky I have a $20 on me most days..why? Because all of our earnings come in the form of a check...we pay our bills by check...we charge most things and pay at month end..by check..why? because all of our earnings come in the form of a check. The only ones in my house with cash are my kids who babysit....and then it goes straight into the bank. What I am saying is that simply put...never ever think that someone who acts like a lowlife doesn't have plenty of cash on them...and is generating a rather high income for themselves:rolleyes::eek: However,,,their expenses may be much different than the average middle class cruiser. So you are saying anyone who pays in cash is in a lower class than you. I get paid in a check and so does my husband but that doesn't mean I have to pay by check or credit card. There is this thing called a bank where you can receive cash! I know I shouldn't be responding to this, b/c the posts on this thread are terrible. People think they can say anything online. Would you all really say these things to people's faces. I think not! Goes right on along with people complaining about kids on ships. Well guess what if you don't like kids then don't sail in the summer or spring break. You all just need to grow up and act like adults and treat people the way you want to be treated!
