CaptivaTravler Posted September 16, 2010 Author #26 Share Posted September 16, 2010 * Thursday 9/9 - Grand Turk The ship docks in Grand Turk ( extremely close to the shore i might add) around 11:00 am it gave everyone in our party a chance to catch up on some much needed rest :-) I dont think anyone was up and about until around 10:15. A quick breafast on the lido deck and we were off the ship. took our snorklegear and headed towards the beach. The beach chairs are plentyful and complementary. The snorkleing was probably the weakest of all the spots we had tried on this intenary, but still saw quite a few varities of fish. We dicided to hang out over at margaritaville pool area, where it seems everyone had decided to congregate from the ship. In the afternoon we decided to go back to the ship to grab some lunch. The burrito bar is always worth the short 10-15 minute wait in line. On this particular day, with most staying in Grand Turk, we walked straight up and put our burrito order in. Headed back over for some more beach time and then some shopping in the area around the ship dock. Some very good deals on several items such as perfume, jewelry and such. Friday 9/10 - Sea Day It always starts to set in that your time is running short on your cruise when you hit that last seaday. The debarkation announcements start coming, the numbered luggage tags arrive, and everything tends to start winding down. :-( We had a lazy start to the day, the ended up back in our usual spot on deck ten to catch some sun. We wanted to make sure we caught the Love Game, which started at 2:30 and it was fun as usual. Kyle the CD did a very good job of adlibing and keeping things interesting. The typical couples were newlyweds ( they literally were because they had just gotten married two days earlier in st thomas ) ... a middle age married couple of 25 years.... and a long term married couple of 54 years i think? ...still a funny show, dont miss it. It seems to me it would be better attended if the time was moved to later in the evening, but there was still probably 50 - 60 % full. Bingo was right after...$20 for 3 cards...bought 3 sets of cards for $60 1 for each of our daughters to play.... they didnt even sniff one of the bingo wins :-( i think they played seven games during this Friday Episode of Bingo...was still fun even though noone in our party won. then on to at least begin to start thinking about getting all of our luggage packed, as it needs to be outside your door no later than 11 pm, and we didnt want to mess with doing it after dinner. For me once you get that suitcase back out and start putting stuff into it, im just not quite as happy. :-P We spent a great final evening however in the MDR, the waiters sing, and beleive it our not, my wife and three daughters were crying as they said thier goodbyes to our dining room staff. Promised all of them that we would be back real soon. *Saturday 9/11 - Debarkation We had #7 we were off the ship nad headed towards US Customs with our bags by 8:20 am. In our car headed home by 8:45. Had such an incredible week aboard the Liberty. We loved this eastern Exotic itinerary. A good variety of time on the ship and in port. If you have any questions I will be glad to help were I can.
cruisin07family Posted September 16, 2010 #27 Share Posted September 16, 2010 hahaha, this was a topic in our house for a few weeks leading up to the cruise.. our oldest daughter, her husband and our youngest daughter stayed in one cabin... our middle daughter, her boyfriend, my wife and I stayed in the balcony cabin. It worked out perfectly. Wow, that's not what I pictured. I figured the two couples and you, wife, and youngest. You guys are much more "progressive" than us. We are traditionalists - no traveling together w/o marriage for our kids. Well, at least on our dime! Glad it worked for you guys. Sounds like a great cruise. What are you thinking for 25th? CaptivaTravler Posted September 17, 2010 Author #28 Share Posted September 17, 2010 Yes it worked out wonderfully for us. We had more than enough room in our balcony room with 4 and the only drawback mentioned by the three in the inside cabin wasnt the size of the room, but the fact it was pitch dark once the lights were turned out and it was difficult to tell whether it was day or night :-P ahhhhh the 25th anniversary....thank goodness we have plenty of time to dream, and it will be fun to plan out... but most likely it will involve renewing of our vows, no matter where we end up either a land vacation or a cruise.... salty dingo Posted September 17, 2010 #29 Share Posted September 17, 2010 Thanks for the review! We did this very same itinerary when it first came available on the Elation. Grand Turk was probably our least favorite and HMC probably was the favorite. We got to re-visit San Juan and St. Thomas and have many good memories. Your review brought a lot of them back!
