Casino tipping protocol

:) We are having a Slot Pull activity on our transatlantic in Oct. I was just wondering, as the topic of tipping seeems to be a constant on these boards, do we tip the Casino Manager if we hit 'the big one' on the dollar machine?

 

I want to let the manager know ahead of time that a large group will be coming to the casino after our meet & greet and to get advice on what we should we do. I know that a dealer at any table game would be tipped, but what is the protocol for a slot machine and a fairly large group of people?

And, why would you tip anyone just because you won? Do they give you anything when you drop $1,000 in their machine?

 

Okay, some people do tip the slot attendant that does the paperwork to pay you, but even then the logic is strange.

I have never hit the big one so I can't say. However, about tipping in general, tips are supposed to be given to people who perform a service, as the service is rendered.

 

In the case of the casino manager, or the person who helps you collect your winnings, how much service have they given you?

 

If you want to give them $5 or $10 for the brief time they assist you, that is nice. If you are thinking of giving a percentage of the jackpot, then no, that is not reasonable in my opinion.

Okay, that makes sense to me, I was just not wanting to be snooty and stiff somebody inadvertantly. Thanks for the advice. I just hope we walk away at least even by the end of the pull.

For our slot pull, we Had both the casino manager and a host involved. The CM actually sought me out after reading our Roll Call on CC. No wins, so no worries about tipping :o. It was so bad that they actually gave us a bunch of free play to keep trying, but nothing. The slot pull took about an hour and we had the host's undivided attention during that time so if we had won, we would have tipped, probably any odd amounts after dividing evenly Don't forget that you should designate someone to take the "tax hit" prior to beginning ( I gladly volunteered as I have plenty of losses to offset it ). Since I was a very active CAS guest anyway, I did personally tip the hosts at the end of my cruise and had dinner and drinks with th CM.
