Wine Recommendations

First off I'm not a wine wine connoisseur. I enjoy drinking wine but I typically stick to what I know I like. I was browsing Carnivals wine list and was having a hard time finding anything I know I would like.

 

I like sweet wines. Some may call the wines I drink dessert wines. At home I usually drink Duplin's Scuppernog Blush which is very sweet. When I go out I typically enjoy Rieslings and occasionally a Chardonnay.

 

I was reading about the Rieslings Wines Carnival offers and they don't seem to be very sweet or high in alcohol content (which is important to me).

 

So for all you wine connoisseurs do you have any recommendations?

Hey there fellow Duplin wine fan! Sorry, can't recommend wines from the list, we took our 2 allowed bottle and our friends did too, so between us we had enough for pre-dinner cocktails! I usually just go with a white Zinfindel. I saw that they have Beringer on the list, its pretty good.

P.S. - if Hinnant is offered in your area in Charlotte, they are a local winery and they have several good ones too! :)

You can order a Late Harvest Gewurztraminer from huschvineyards.com it runs about $20.00 a bottle and can be shipped to you home.. It is sweet,light and resembles a reisling with more of a fruity nose. I am a wine snob I used to live in Wine Country, CA..Life is toooo short to drink bad wine. Bring it on board, you are allowed 2 bottles per couple, I am quite sure you will enjoy this wine. BON VOYAGE

You may want to search this forum for riesling or white zinfandel (check spelligns) as there was an excellent thread about 1 or 2 months ago right on topic. One of the CC members who commented throughout is a sommelier and he actually listed the wines in order of sweetness.

 

I'd like to think that the bartenders could give you good advice on the wine list...but I've only cruised CCL one time. You are correct, the higher the alcohol content, the sweeter the wine. Good luck!

I usually just go with a Beringer White Zinfindel. I saw that they have the list, its pretty good.

 

My dinner favorite also.

I am not a huge wine fan...but I was introduced to an inexpensive sweet white wine and will bring two bottles with us...one is Sutter Home Moscato

http://www.sutterhome.com/w_mosc.php and the other is Castello del Poggio Moscato d'Asti which was a popular wine that olive garden has to offer. I was able to read reviews about this wine at the attached link, but found it locally at ABC liquors. I'm a sweet wine fan too! I just have resigned myself to bringing my own on board. Good to hear there are a few though that may satisfy the sweet requirement! Did you hear about being able to order a cheese plate as a dessert--might be fun to try some new wines with the cheese. I plan to take some back to my room and sample it on the balcony--yay!

Oh I agree about the Moscato! Sutter Home and Barefoot both make a good one! :D
