Embarkation Time - Caribbean Princess - Brooklyn

We called the cruise line, and they indicated that boarding time was 1pm and that arrival at 2pm would allow for a more efficient embarkation.

We notice from other postings that individuals have gotten on the ship prior to 1pm. Do such individuals have special privileges that allow them to board, or is this option open to everyone? We would hate to get to the pier and then find that we were stuck waiting around. Also, we noticed that one party had some problems with the porters. We were wondering if the early arrival contributed to this difficulty?

Please share from your experiences.

Thanks.

We have sailed the Crown and the CB from Red Hook many times.

We get there early and board between 11:30 and 12:00. ;)

The porter problem a few weeks ago was a one time incident.

Almost every Princess cruise notice says the same thing, and almost every Princess cruise starts the check-in process by 11 AM and starts boarding the ship by noon.

No special privileges to do this, but when actual boarding starts, already checked in passengers in suites or with elite or platinum status will be the first to get on board. That usually takes only a few minutes before other start boarding.

We also had a great embarkation, best so far. We parked the car @ 11:15 in our cabin @ 11:45 then a wonderfull lunch in the dinning room.:)

What dining room was lunch served in? Any difficulty (like some have mentioned) getting into the dining room?

On the Sept 11th...We arrived at the port at 11:30. There was a bit of a wait due to the heat build up inside the one plexiglass boarding ramp. They did not want to make passengers spend too much time in the hot stuffy ramp. So we were sent in small groups. We were on board by 12:30. Right after us, they opened a 2nd entrance and boarding was speedy. We ate at the buffet to enjoy looking at NYC. It was a beautiful day. Our luggage was delivered quickly and we had totally unpacked by 4:00pm.

Hi Bills Fan, I believe it was the Island Dinning room deck 5 were they have ATD @ night. Lunch was served from 11:30 to 1:00 just get there before 1:00 and they will seat you. No problems. This was nice because for dinner they a fabulous seafood buffet on the Lido Deck. "Lobster, Lobster, Lobster" Hint, bring a set of crackers from home. Have a great cruise.

We boarded the Caribbean Princess on Sept. 18. We arrived between 11:30 and 12 noon and found check-in to be prompt and efficient. Though we had no special privileges, from curb to stateroom took approximately 30 minutes, including time to park the car. However, two of our party were using wheelchairs. Two cruise attendants met us at the curb and ushered us through the process to our stateroom, pushing the wheelchairs the whole way! We did not experience any difficulties with the porters.
