MaiTaiMary Posted September 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2010 I've never been on a ship with the Serenity "adults only" area. The pictures make it look like such a wonderful, tranquil area! :) Is it truely as nice as it looks in the pictures? Or is it jam packed with people and loud at times?? On sea days I just like lay out in the sun with my book and find a nice, QUITE spot. What have your experiences been with the Serenity area? Thanks. jennmaybe Posted September 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2010 If you're looking for a little down & quiet time on the ship, this is the place! We had it on the Inspiration and loved it. It was one of our favorite spots. DH and I went to just chill out for a little while there...well, we ended up falling asleep and didn't wake up for 2 hrs. I'm not sure if they are as strict on all ships, but on ours, we had 4 teenagers come get into the hot tub and a crew member came by and made them leave. They weren't bothering anyone, but it is clearly stated that it's an "adults only" area. You will see lots of people reading or just laying there catching a few Z's. The chairs have big thick cushions on them, which I believe contributed to us falling asleep. On our ship, it was at the very back, so all you heard was the ocean.... Enjoy!! chachi Posted September 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2010 It is very nice, but can be hard to get a lounger. The hot tubs are usually not crowded. On my last cruise there was a little boy in there, maybe 3 or 4 years old. It bothered me, but since he wasn't loud I didn't say anything. I wish they would have asked them to leave. Once one is allowed in, more will come.

CapeCodCruiser Posted September 18, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2010 We really enjoyed it the Freedom last year. They have these huge "papasan" loungers that have a half dome top for privacy - the loungers sit up higher than the chaises and look out over the aft - great views! ANGSWIN Posted September 18, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 18, 2010 My hubby and I are going on an adults only trip on the Fantasy in Dec. We are leaving the kids with grandma and I am looking forward to a little quiet time! Therefore, I really hope that the Serenity deck is really "serene!" allnamestaken Posted September 18, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2010 On the Glory, there were many children for the first few days, but they were eventually cleared out. Also, the area is in the front of the ship and it seems that the covered loungers simply weren't up to the wind as at least half were broken. In the end, we did have the chance to spend the day reading and napping in one of the round loungers for two and it was heaven (if extremely windy). scchasgal Posted September 18, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2010 Our recent cruise the Serenity area was wonderful, no kids and no drunks :D. It was very quiet and no problems getting loungers even midday.
shortstop95 Posted September 18, 2010 #9 Share Posted September 18, 2010 They're totally cool areas. Locations vary on the class of ship. On the Dream it was amazing wrapping around the front on both port and starboard sides. Great clam shells for two- hammocks- hottubs- lots of sectional seating- some shaded- some not. Most people were asleep to be honest everytime we went up there. Also on the Dream had their own little bar area that served lunch too- so you didn't need want for a thing up there. Never saw kids there the whole week- which is surprising as its very close to the waterworks.
MpwdMom Posted September 18, 2010 #10 Share Posted September 18, 2010 Where is the Serenity area on the Conquest?? We must have missed it b/c I didn't see any chairs with thick padding.
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted September 18, 2010 #11 Share Posted September 18, 2010 On the Fantasy class (Elation for me) the lounge chairs were just plain lounge chairs with padding. It was not a big area..had two hot tubs...and several lounge chairs. The only time it seemed packed was during sailaway. Definitely not noisy and a good choice for reading a book by the ocean. frangran Posted September 18, 2010 #12 Share Posted September 18, 2010 Soft classical music, comfy deck chairs.... A perfect place to read or just relax while looking out at the ocean. Later, a perfect place to remember during life's hectic & unlovely moments.
Jellytots Posted September 18, 2010 #13 Share Posted September 18, 2010 Does the Valor have one of these areas?
Heirloom Posted September 18, 2010 #14 Share Posted September 18, 2010 On Dream......unless you go there while in port.....suggest you get there very EARLY. All other times......hogs galore.......all day long, all sections. What a disappointment when seeking "serenity". Late sleep-ins like us ? Fau-GED- aboud-it. MaiTaiMary Posted September 18, 2010 Author #15 Share Posted September 18, 2010 Soft classical music ack! Really?? I really want to get AWAY from music. Just not a big music person and I certainly don't want to listen to it while trying to read. :( Is this all the ships?
Rare jimbo5544 Posted September 18, 2010 #16 Share Posted September 18, 2010 Was on the Dream 8/21 and spent several afternoons there. No music and not crowded at all.

luvcdays Posted September 19, 2010 #18 Share Posted September 19, 2010 I loved the Serenity areas on the Splendor and the Dream. There was no music playing there. Does the Liberty have a Serenity area? Thanks
Backwoodsdan Posted September 19, 2010 #19 Share Posted September 19, 2010 the over 21 rule was strictly enforced, and that was appreciated. On sea days the area is just as crowed as the rest of the lounge areas. Other than then the area is pretty empty. In fact some didn't even know about it. maabell4 Posted September 19, 2010 #20 Share Posted September 19, 2010 Do they have a nearby bar? I am really looking forward to being there with a drink and book or magazine or just stare at the water.
CruisingLPN Posted September 19, 2010 #21 Share Posted September 19, 2010 It was crowded during the day, but still quiet. More empty at sunset, and the aft view was gorgeous.

I am really looking forward to being there with a drink and book or magazine or just stare at the water. I can't speak for others, but on the Fantasy class, you can go up a flight of stairs, in the back door of the Lido and there's a bar right inside. Easy peasy
NewCruiser11 Posted September 19, 2010 #23 Share Posted September 19, 2010 Does the Valor have one of these areas? We booked our cruise last month and I was trying to decide between the Valor and the Glory. My PVP told me that the Valor did not have a serenity area. deanswife1990 Posted September 19, 2010 #24 Share Posted September 19, 2010 The photos online of the Serenity area look amazing and now that I know they truly are what they seem to be, I can't wait to lay up there with a good book and my DH and relax the day away. Does anyone know if the Freedom has a bar/lunch area there?
