Strikes in late September.

Two strikes that could impact cruisers:

(1) Trenitalia - National railroad strike from 9PM September 30th until 9PM October 1st. Some trains are guaranteed to run even in case of strike. Go to the Trenitalia site; look under 'Other Services; then to 'In Case of Strike'. At the bottom of the page there is a link to a list of all the trains (in Italian).

(2) Local transport buses and trams. Again, nationwide.

 

We arrive on the 1st. Had to rework our plans because of this.

Thanks for the heads up. I posted it on our roll call. We will be in Sorrento that day and it could affect the train to Pompii. Since we have two days in Sorrento we can work around it. I guess it won't affect the ferry to Capri.

Strike on trains is Trenitalia only. Sorrento-Pompeii is Circumvesuviana, a different company. SITA bus lines around that area may be impacted.

As it turned out, these strikes were both postponed, as often happens. They are now rescheduled to take place on the 22nd of October.
