Very "strange" lights in the sky over Skagway harbor (I'm sure know it's not a UFO)

I've been doing Alaska time lapse captures all summer, this morning I saw the oddest thing.

 

I know there is a good explanation but I must admit it's pretty weird. I know they aren't what it looks like...

 

The images below are part of a sequence of images of some "strange" lights last night over the harbor at Skagway.

but these stills give you an idea of what I am talking about (and for those that might I ask, no editing has been done to them).

 

Normal night sky

 

Something odd appears

 

and then moves across the sky

Maybe a coast guard chopper, searchlight on or something? Interesting.

Sorry but it is DEFINATLY a UFO!

 

UFO = Unidentified Flying Object

 

Since you dont know what it is then it is officially a UFO!

If you notice that where the light is just happens to be the edge of the montain. The light was coming from behind it.

Yes, you are right. It had us confused since it really doesn't look like the moon in any of the pictures. Your mind can play tricks on you.

 

Although, looking out at the full moon tonight made me start thinking the same thing and I also found the same thing a couple of nights in a row...

 

And then I found this picture which really made it apparent since it was shining throug the clouds.
