CRUZCOOL Posted September 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2010 DH and I are leaving on Oasis in two weeks. I have been on these boards for months trying to get as much info as possible to get the most of our cruise. We are getting very excited. I have loads of tips, thanks to all the members who have been posting these. But still have a few questions. What is the one thing we should not miss? We don't do shows so we are not concerned with those. We are loooking forward to Chops, flowrider, zip line, mini golf, and just relaxing. Where is the best place to just relax near the pool and enjoy the atmosphere with a drink? Is Bingo worth it? Any other tips would be great and helpful. CRUZCOOL Posted September 23, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted September 23, 2010 We have been patiently waiting for this trip. We booked it in October of 2008, right after we got off Liberty. So I know these next two weeks will take forever and day to be here.
allenee Posted September 23, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2010 I also booked Oasis in October of 2008. We sail on the 9th. I liked when the Oasis had it's own post area, got alot of great info but now you have to hunt for it.

First... You WILL be blown away by this ship! She is amazing! Here are my top tips: 1 - Don't miss the Star Gazer get-together. Put on by a crew member they take you out on the bow (you can't go out there normally) on two nights and do a great star watching presentation. This was very good. Watch your Compass - Daily Planner for dates and times. 2 - The Solarium is THE place for adults. We stayed there all week long. 3 - The roast beef sandwiches at Park Cafe - go early in the week - it gets jammed as folks find it. 4 - Use the touch screens in the elevator lobby to find out which restaurants are full. This really saves time of running to a fro from restaurants! 5 - Use the public HUGE balconies aft on decks 11 and 12 on the port and starboard side. Great for sailaways and watching the Aqua Theater shows. We were in cabin 11690 and used the back balconies for parties with friends. 6 - If you are a cigar smoker - there is a deck above the Solarium Bar with a gate that says (Gold Cards only - i.e. suite cabins). That leads to a cigar smoking area and a bar ABOVE the Solarium. We were not in a suite but spent a lot of time up there anyway. The bartender said that was not a problem since this was the only cigar smoking area aboard. 7 - Another great sailaway site is on deck 14 port side forward. There is a door to the outside deck with wings just above the bridge. Fantastic views and no one knows about it! 8 - The corn dog at the Boardwalk Bar is awsome. 9 - Izumi and Chops!!! After this, now I wish I was going back... Have a great cruise!! ------------------------ Sea ya! Pher4Real Posted September 24, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 24, 2010 Thanks Hobicat01!!! I will be adding these tips to my list I've created....!!!!
Barbiegator Posted September 24, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 24, 2010 Also they make a salad for you at Park Cafe. And they make toppings to put on your bagel for breakfast. Go when you get on ship before it gets too crowded. Casino has great new machines. Deal or No Deal was hitting big.

ZoeyVictoria Posted September 24, 2010 #10 Share Posted September 24, 2010 I am a firm believer in bingo since we won the free cruise at bingo. The really cool part is that we paid for most of the original cruise with $500 won on a scratch-off lottery ticket. No, we didn't keep our run of luck going by winning bingo again on the free cruise - had to pay for the next one :(

chrisandjohn Posted September 24, 2010 #13 Share Posted September 24, 2010 Hi, We were on the Oasis last week. What a ship! Although you said you don't do shows, please make an exception and see Hairspray. I can't say enough about this performance. It was wonderful! Also we loved the comedy show. Funny !!! Trivia in the Schooner Bar was always a good time, and the belly flop at the aqua theater was terrific. You are so lucky to have Richard Spacey as your cruise director. What a guy! Oh, don't forget the Quest!!! Have a wonderful vacation.
onefishtwofish Posted September 25, 2010 #14 Share Posted September 25, 2010 You will love it! We cruised on June 5th and it was an awesome experience! I agree that even though you're not show go-ers, try to see them! You can always go right before the show without reservations and grab a couple seats - they are really worth it! Park Cafe - yummy roast beef sandwiches, salads and different soups daily (which my 8 & 10 year old loved!) - definitely try it out! Central park is a nice, quiet place with some nice comfy chairs to relax in...very tranquil! Solarium is perfect for a quiet pool/no kids place and has a very nice healthy bistro that is free at lunch. Zip line/flow riders are great too - go earlier for less wait time. Touch screens make it very convienent to get around - great idea! Promenade is fun and lots of things to see/do/eat there.... If you're photo people, which we are, we found the $99 photo scrapbook worth it! Just make sure you take pictures in all the places in the book (Central Park, Promenade, Dining Room, ports etc...) as you can choose pictures on screen to place in the book...they can tell you all the specs in the photo shop. Also you'll get an actual folio that all your pictures will be in, so no more hunting on the walls....which is nice to see the "real" picture that will be going in your book. On your first day, take a walk around the ship and check it all out! There are lots of nooks and crannies to find time to yourself! Have a fun time and ENJOY!!! :D
lonegirl Posted September 25, 2010 #15 Share Posted September 25, 2010 Just wanted to say we just got back home today from our back to back....12 h ago we were still prepping for departure! I know you said you don't care about the shows....but they were fantastic. As we did 2 weeks the 1st week was spent enjoying the ship and getting to know it....and week 2 we did the shows...HairSpray, Aqua show, Splish Splash, Come Fly with me....all amazing. We also did the $99 photo book...just pay attention to it though as you have to be at specific areas for photos to appear. We loved Giovanni's. Turn around day those of us doing back to back sailings enjoyed a complementary lunch....we loved it so much we went back for our final lunch. sct12345 Posted November 5, 2010 #19 Share Posted November 5, 2010 Bingo is for entertainment purposes. IF you win, then it is worth it..... very true. i won $4,400 15 yrs ago on Song of America and my inlaws won a free cruise last year. Otherwise just consider it a donation, like at the casino... sct12345 Posted November 5, 2010 #20 Share Posted November 5, 2010 Has anyone done the Live the Oasis book, scavenger hunt, or whatever it is? My 12 yr old son bought the book when we went in Aug. They give you 2 lanyards and a bunch of Oasis pins with the book. There are 6-8 chapters. Each chapter is a different section of the ship. It tells you where to begin the self tour and and it tells you where to go next. Along the way it gives you facts and info about what you will see. It also has questions you must answer about things you pass on the way. When you finish a chapter you put a pin on your lanyard. On the last night of the cruise there is a game show that you compete vs other people who bought the book. My son was really excited to do the game show. When we arrived we were the only ones there so they skipped the game show and gave us the prizes (RCCL hats). My son loved it. He finished the book and became a walking Oasis encyclopedia. Its only $15-20 and they will post in in the cruise compass when and where it will be sold.
