Bermuda Ferry Service Suspended Until Further Notice

Apparently the union workers who operate the Bermuda ferries went on strike today. :( http://www.royalgazette.com/rg/Artic...3&sectionId=60 However, service has been restored for Paget and Warwick commuters. http://www.royalgazette.com/rg/Artic...3&sectionId=60 Let's hope that this is settled quickly and doesn't affect many cruisers.

Arriving Bermuda Oct 4. Not a happy thought to have to take a probably overcrowded bus into Hamilton. That is if one can catch a bus with hundreds of other passengers waiting. Could not have ever imagined that this topic would be my first post. :)

They are working toward having full ferry service restored on Monday.

Looks like the Orange route is still not running. That could make a huge impact on the plans of folks planning to visit St. George's.

Just returned yesterday from the October 2-7 Enchantment of the Seas Baltimore-Bermuda cruise. No ferries were running except special service for cruise ship passengers from the Dockyard to Hamilton and return on October 4-5.

One government official seemed to say they would soon need to replace the ferries. The ferry manufacturer says, with proper maintenance, they should last twenty years.

 

Bermuda's ferries are no where near 20 years old. What's going on?

Some say over usage of a few, others say island does not have proper maintenance capabilities, one points a finger at another while that one is pointing back......who knows?
