Festival of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Cabo

We will be in Cabo on Dec 12. One of the major religious holidays in Mexico is the Festival of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Anyone know what activities occur during the day and into the evening. We have back to back stops in Cabo on the 12th & 13th but the ship leaves port on Sun night and returns Mon morning. We can also leave the ship on Sunday, stay the night in Cabo, and return to the ship on Monday (prior arrangement with cruise line). Just thought it might be interesting to do the festival, if it's worth it.

THIS is what i found onliner via google search:

when:12 Dec 2010 (annual)where:Cabo San Lucascost:Freetime:All day

The Feast Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Cabo San Lucas is filled with processions, dances, fireworks and a religious mass. The feast day is 12 December every year but the customary Mexican partying starts the night before

That's the same info I found. DW & I are on Carnival Spirit. Our CCL PVP told me it would okay to do this if we had a passport and coordinated the details with CCL. Our PVP said she would handle everything once we had all the info. I'm guessing they would want to know where you would be staying overnight. Guess a street dance all night would not be okay:rolleyes:. Some other folks on the Spirit are now thinking about trying to stay off a couple days and catch up with the ship in La Paz. Anyway, we're not 100% sure we'll do this but if a few others do then we would feel more comfortable doing it.

I have taken that cruise as well, we did stay overnight. The cruise ship did warn us though that if for some reason the ship did not get back to Cabo the next day we were on our own. They say that can happen but I think it is very, very rare. They want to discourage you from staying overnight, if you are off the ship you are not spending money at the Casino & bars etc. We stayed at the Marina Fiesta, we had stayed there previously for a week. An EZ walk with an overnight bag, almost directly across from the tender dock. ALL the rooms have balconys & face the marina. Plus it's also an EZ walk to Medano Bch. Cabo nightlife is the best anyday of the week, any time of the year.
