Does ferry canal transit sell out in advance?

Does anyone know if the ferry canal transit tour is likely to sell out with advance tour bookings? Or is it okay to wait until you are onboard to purchase this excursion?

It is a very popular excursion but it is a large capacity one as well. Normally the ship does hold back a percentage of tours to be sold on board, what percent, I am not sure. You probably would be alright as long as you booked soon after boarding, not waiting say, the day before transit.

In my experience Panama Canal Experience can usually be booked on board. What a lot of folks do is prebook on line excursions they think they might be interested in, and then if something looks better once they here the presentations on board, they switchd. Most cruise lines allow you to do this without penalty if you do it before the cutoff date, which is usually two days before the port.
