We are doing about a 4 hour tour with fat adventures..... we are going to see the stingrays, snorkelling then going to see the starfish, ending with going to a pub/beach. We will be taken back to the dock area around 12:30 not quite ready to get back on the ship, as we will be departing around 6:00.

Can anyone suggest anything to do around the ship?

Shopping, beach etc?

Would appreciate any help and suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

Once you get taken back to the port area there is lots of shopping, restaurants, and bars right there. You can just take your time and walk through the shops and perhaps find a restaurant that looks appealing to you. If you want a beach you can have a taxi take you to Seven Mile Beach for an hour or two. There are also restaurants there you can eat at. If you do this, I would be sure and allow yourself plenty of time to return to the port area as the traffic coming back can get very congested.

If you want to do another excursion, there is also the submarine and semi-submersible sub in town. Expensive though.

Enjoy your time in Grand Cayman

Not sure how long it is, but there was a Pirate Adventure which is aimed primarily at kids, but my wife and I had a great time. You board a pirate ship, "fire" at your cruise ship, and some kids (gently) are asked to swab the deck. (I got tied to the main mast for running my mouth!) Afterward, the ship anchors and people can jump off the plank and go swimming. Soft drinks were available and included.

Georgetown has some great duty free shopping and there are some places to kick back and relax with a drink and something to eat.

definitely walk around georgetown and browse the shops, then pick a waterfront place and have a Stingray beer. you will have a beautiful view of the sunset from any waterfront restaurant.

There are many shops in the Georgetown, and 7 mile beach is close by. You will have to tender to and from the ship, so make sure you know what time the last tender leaves and plan accordingly. That sounds like a great tour btw.:)

We were just there a couple of weeks ago and when we came back from our excursion to Sting Ray City, we had lunch at a little local cafe and then walked through the shops, sampled rum cakes, purchased some rum too! lol Margaritaville, Breezes and Hard Rock are close by if you are into the touristy places...it is all within walking distance. Have fun!:D

We have been there a number of times and enjoyed some of the local resteraunts. The shopping is varied if you get off the main drag a block or so. The people in the stores are nicer and dont hownd you like on some Islands we've been on.Lots of things within walking distance.

Right across the street from the rumcake place there is a Tshirt shop, you have to walk up some stairs and if you make any purchase in the store you can use their internet for free (they have 3 computers set up in the store) so we bought a few t shirts ( they had some nice 3 for $20) and checked our email etc for free instead of paying the ridiculous internet prices on the ship :)

If you plan to buy anything, make sure you know how much it costs in your local currency, because stuff in GC is expensive and may not be a deal even if it is duty free. Just keep that in mind.

There is a great little bar called the Paradise Bar if you walk all the way east of the tender, and there is a little beach and snorkeling area there. 7 Mile Beach is beautiful and it is all public, so just you can take a cab and have them drop you off at Royal Palms. You don't have to use Royal Palms' facilities--you can just plop down on either side of it, but it's just a good place to be.

have a great time!

There's a small but interesting History and Art Museum within two blocks of the pier. They show a short film of the history of the Caymans, and have interactive historical lessons upstairs. We really enjoyed it. I'm not much on shopping, so we just did the sub and the museum, and then had lunch on board the ship.

Wow Kelly11 thanks for the info. We were on the Sky last Dec and paid the ridiculous prices to keep in contact with the kids at home. Now we can do it for free and pick up T's which we would have bought anyway. What an informative site! :p

we just returned from a stop in grand cayman, and we went to a bar/grill called Hammerheads. Yummy food, reasonably priced - but beware of the exchange rate. The menus list prices in CI, and right now the exchange rate is $1 CI to $1.25 US - so everything costs more than you figure. (figured this out the hard way with a $14 fried conch fritter bill.)

Taxis to the beach are only $4 each, but you have to wait till the taxi driver gets enough people to justify the trip, which can be frustrating at times.
