Express Docs...

Our express doc's were supposed to be ready to print on Oct 5, got an e-mail that they were ready on Oct 4.

We had a guarantee and we did not have a cabin assignment as of then. It came about three weeks later after up-sell offers.

Are the Express Docs usually ready to print on the exact apprx. date it says, or are they sometimes ready before?

It might be slightly different depending on your cruise and cabin selection. For instance, we don't book guarantees and since we've been in S category cabins the chance of getting upgraded or offered an up sell to the penthouse are somewhere between slim and none so our express documents have been ready earlier than the promised date. I suspect that the folks booked in guarantees are more likely to have their documents ready at the latest possible date and then still subject to change.

No, that doesn't matter. Ours have been ready the day before they said they would be on our last three cruises, and all were guarantees. I usually print out the boarding pass page and two bag tags whether we have a room assignment or not (and it's usually not) just in case of problems in the 10 days, after we get the assignment.

That has been our experience too and we are almost always on the Main Deck. We received the emails for both the Thanksgiving cruise on the Westerdam and the Christmas- New Years cruise on the Maasdam about 50 or so days before sail date.

Bye the bye, just got a call from TA to remind us to do the on line check in. We already had that done for both cruises. Apparently HAL is getting a little antsy about getting all the info together as soon as possible and they have asked TAs to call customers and remind them to do the on line check in.
