What is a "welcome back recieption?"

Is it the Past Guest reception you are referring to? If so, anyone who has been on 1 or more Carnival cruises gets an invitation to a cocktail party. It is usually in the main theater. Waitstaff come around with free drinks ( wine, beer, a few mixed ones ) and appetizers. You get to watch a short film clip of Carnival's history with all the Carnival ships shown. You are encouraged to clap for the ships you have been on. It's usually held on the 2nd elegant night.

Hope this is the info you were looking for.:)

Hi, when does one get this invitation? This will be our 2nd cruise this Sunday.

It will be delivered to your cabin sometime during your cruise. I think we usually get it the day before the party.

It is the past guest party and you will receive an invitation in your cabin the day before the party. There is a new video without John Heald but it still has most elements of the old one. You don't have to take the drinks offered by the server but can ask for what you want including soft drinks. Small appetizers are also offered. We've never had the party on a formal/elegant night.
