kicker Posted November 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2010 I've read much on here about shuttles & taxis. We have a somewhat unique situation. We have a hotel booked that provides free shuttle service until 11PM. Our flight gets in after 11 PM; we will four adults plus and 18 month old. Any advice? Taxis, from what I gather, would need a carseat and might be hard to find. Shuttles wouldn't need a carset, but would obvioulsy cost more (hotel is 2 miles from airport). A car rental is another option. In your opinion, what would you do? 1). Try a taxi 2). Get a shuttle 3). Rent a car for a day Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Rare mizLORInj Posted November 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2010 I'd use a taxi. We took one from MIA to Doubletree last year and I think it was about $30.
JohninDC Posted November 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2010 Can you bring your own car seat? A taxi to most airport are hotels will only run $12 or so - $25+ to go downtown. Larry's Limos has been suggested for MIA service on these boards, but you'll be looking a more $$ SuperShuttle is another option. Unless you need a car for some other reason in Miami I would avoid the one night rental. :( Maybe the easiset solution would be to find another hotel? Many on these boards suggest hotels in the Blue Lagoon area near MIA (Hampton Inn and others) because of shopping within walking distance. Embassy Suites MIA is another option. Good luck! :)
kicker Posted November 17, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted November 17, 2010 The taxi works except for the car seat. Do we really want a car seat that we'll have to lug to the ship, store someplace in our cabin? On the other hand, she'd fit better on the plane in her car seat, and that would solve some transportation problems. We're flying in late Thursday night; cruise is Saturday, so we could get some use out of a rental car. Still deciding...
kicker Posted November 19, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted November 19, 2010 Just changed to Residence Inn Airport South. Cost is a bit higher (overall for 2 nights its about $30 more, after a $50 food/beverage credit which will be easy to use). This actually saves us money in our unique situation: their shuttle runs until 1AM, so it'll be free instead of paying for 4 adults. We originally had 5 adults (wouldn't fit at RI) - now with 4 adults and a baby we can do it. They also offer a shuttle to the port - $11pp.
